Thanks scaredy, i was given the choice of 3 hospitals which sounds great but 2 of them had no appointments at all, so i fail to see the point in that.
Can we afford it is a difficult question. Yes we can but cashflow is a bit tight at the moment just because we have a couple of outstanding invoices (which have been chased) but who knows when they will be paid. I suppose I'd have to shove it on the credit card realsitically, I need to keep a good slush fund in savings to cover us in case the record company take 6 months to pay (which can happen).
I'm tempted to just go back to A&E (again) the first time she was admitted they said if this happens again we'll take them out. The second time she ended up seeing the on call plastic surgeon because the ENT guy was busy and we were told to take her back in if the IV antibiotics didn't keep the infection away after a few days. But she seemed ok for 2 weeks, then she fainted in school again and here we are.
I think I'm going to book with the local spire hospital for a consultation and see what the options are from there. Thanks everyone.:A

My 5 year old had his tonsils out last Wednesday, on the NHS, but ours was a long running saga and his hearing and breathing were affected. It was day surgery and he is recovering well but it does take a toll on them so if you can get it done in the summer hols all the better as she will be well recovered and fit when she goes back to school.0

Toto - why is the referral taking so long to the consultant - they have to do the operation (if the consultant decides its appropriate) within 18 weeks - surely a 2nd of Sept first appt wont allow them to complete within that schedule??
Is it worth speaking to PALS before you go private??
I'll look up PALS now, thanks Becky.:A

Ok, I've called the local private hospital who have said they can't do an op on a minor. So, I've spoken to the surgeon's secretary who has said he does the ops on kids in the Luton and Dunstable hosp. So, now she is getting Jas's notes faxed over from our local hospital and then she will call back to book an appointment for the op.:A

 afternoon
DD still not well and am waiting for Dr to call back..didn't see the point of dragging her down there if all they will say is keep giving her paracetamol and sit it out. Although as I was coming home from work bumped into someone who used to work at Beas old nursery and apparently Swine Flu is maing its way around Dorchester  Few cases at the nursery, High school and one of the primary schools.

Gentle ((hugs)) to Bea and Jas - is Chloe okay today Sammy?
Hmm....right....Mr Sunday. I dunno, I really like him, but I'm sensing a big lack of effort on his part (which is really not a good sign so early on). But then, when I give him the option to cancel something, he says no. I can't work out whether he's not really that interested, or whether he has just relaxed a bit too soon!
There's no one big incident that's bothering me, just lots of little niggles.
I keep thinking I'm spending more time worrying about things than enjoying them, and keep wondering if it's really worth the stress, but then when he's not giving me mixed messages, I really like him.
I think I panic too much over things because of how Shrek was, but I'm trying hard not to tar him with the same brush.

Sal, hope she's feeling better soon.
I have done soooo much work today and feel a bit hyper now like I could just keep going all evening - going to friends for dinner though so will either go and be hyper there or fall asleep on their sofa :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
