Oh I don't know what to do.
Jas is STILL in masses of pain with her tonsills, it's been another week off school and I doubt she'll be back anytime soon at this rate. It's beyond a bleeding joke.
I have finally got the paperwork and have booked an appointment at the local hospital's ENT department, the problem is, the first consultation isn't until september 2nd which means she will be in pain all summer if the past few months are anything to go by, but also she will start another school year sick. In the past 4 months she has just about managed 3.5 weeks in school, it's no good.
I'm thinking of taking the referral to a private hospital and paying for the surgery, it'll be about £2,500. It's a heck of a lot of money when the NHS will do it (in time) but I'm so fed up with seeing her in pain. What would you do?:A

I have to say Toto........I'd be looking to go private. It's not normally something I'd say - often because it's the same consultant as for NHS, but if it means she can start the new school year knowing it's not something hanging over her when there could still be a long wait (and pain) after the consultation early September. I think it might be worth the money - if you have it, of course.
I remember having tonsilitis lots as a kid and they wouldn't take them out - it is a miserable thing to get"Stay Wonky":D

honestly Toto, if i could afford it, i would go private...
think of it as an extra days work, an extra weeks work (not fishing for the day rate BTW) that Fran is working and that's it paid for itself...
she'll have the whole of the summer hols to recover and into next term as a new well person.... edit - which is kinda what BB said too... only better!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Poor thingIf you can reasonably afford it then I would go for it, it must be horrible for her, and you seeing her in pain.

If you can afford it Toto, go private. It can't be nice seeing her in pain, and definately not nice for her being in pain0

Toto - why is the referral taking so long to the consultant - they have to do the operation (if the consultant decides its appropriate) within 18 weeks - surely a 2nd of Sept first appt wont allow them to complete within that schedule??
Is it worth speaking to PALS before you go private??0 -
right...........sigh............here goes......keep everything crossed from 3.30pm to 4pm please!!
If I'm not posting 'hurrah' by 4.30pm at the latest - you know I'm selling my body to pay for a new tyre or something "Stay Wonky":D

i don't think you'd be out of order asking your dr to arrange the private op and the nhs pay as she has been soo ill so many times over the last year or so, you could say it is affecting her mental health as well so they take it more seriously and get it done asap.
or can they refer her to another authority to get it done?Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
I would go private if you can afford it Toto. Or at least pay for the initial consultation privately which gets you onto a waiting list quicker.0
