From my average annual usage of say, Gas 13,800 kwh and Electricity 2,800kwh the various Energyonline tariffs work out as shown below.
Powergen (Website Tariff): £617.82 pa
Gas: 4572kwh@ 3.567p (£163.12), 9228kwh@ 2.145p (£197.95)
Elec: 800kwh@ 14.899p (£119.20), 2000kwh@ 6.877p (£137.55)
Powergen (Actual Tariff): £613.72 pa
Gas: 1143kwh@ 3.156p (£36.08), 12657kwh@ 2.510p (£317.73)
Elec: 225kwh@ 14.574p (£32.79), 2575kwh@ 8.820p (£227.12)
Powergen (MSE Tariff (low threshold)): £530.50 pa
Gas: 1143kwh@ 3.570p (£40.81), 12657kwh@ 2.145p (£271.51)
Elec: 200kwh@ 17.180p (£34.36), 2600kwh@ 7.070p (£183.82)
Powergen (MSE Tariff (High threshold)): £640.01 pa
Gas: 4572kwh@ 3.570p (£163.22), 9228kwh@ 2.145p (£197.95)
Elec: 800kwh@ 17.180p (£137.44), 2000kwh@ 7.070p (£141.40)
Actual tariff is what im currently billed at.
MSE tariff is the one people have stated on this forum, high and low thresholds.
You can see if I was to switch to the MSE low it would save me £83pa, however if I changed to the MSE High it would cost me an extra £27.
Compare this with the quote from the nPower website shown below, I would still save £80.
nPower (Website Tariff): £535.40 pa
Gas: 4572kwh@ 3.165p (£144.70), 9228kwh@ 1.691p (£156.05)
Elec: 728kwh@ 11.000p (£80.08), 2072kwh@ 7.460p (£154.57)
All this compares to last years bill of roughly £450, if I stay on my current tariff a 36% increase.0 -

I have spoken to them 4 times today on varying phone numbers and have been passed from India to various call centers in the uk and have been promised a call back tomorrow (which I wont hold my breath on).looking on the comparison website I can save %25 on my electricity by switching to British gas click energy and %20 on my gas by going to ebico.by putting me on the cheaper powergen tariff these savings virtually disappear but so far no luck.If they dont do it tomorrow im off.
they rang back this morning and put me on the cheaper tarif which according to them will save me £104 and this was also backdated to 31st march so happy with that and thanks to the original poster.-....-.---.---. ..... .- -.-.

Another phone call with Powergen and this time a result. They were very polite and said that they would put me on the post Dec2005 tariff. They also said at they were looking at ways of getting everyone on to the same tariff - not just those who phoned up.

well i managed to get hold of a nice lady on the 0800 056 3747 number, who agreed to switch me to the post Dec05 tariff.

She said she had no idea why there was a brand new customers only tariff, she also said that 90% of customers didnt have a discount on last quarters bill, and it was something they were looking into.
and apparently it was £50 a year discount until recently, and not 11%/12% but as ive only had £49 over 2 years she agreed to recalculate my discount.
bit of a result
£100 a year cheaper and a possible £50 rebate.0 -

It was when you were originally quoted and/or joined powergen, it doesnt say anything on the bill.
2003 = £40 (£20 each)
2004 = £50 (£25 each)
2005 = 11%
2006 = 12%
or so i was told.0
