I've just checked up on this for you, and the delay is simply because the team are building something better to replace it. When that is bug tested and ready, they will remove the current ticker and install the solution.

Hi all

Quick update. Since the "new" version of the ticker is still in development, we've arranged to turn the animation effect off in the meantime which we hope will help save system resources and improve speeds for everyone.

We've had no reports of it having a detrimental effect to loading times on the homepage so at the moment it isn't due a change.

The animated ticker is just as bad on the homepage of the main site as it previously was for me in the forums.

Nothing to do with page load times - it's processor load that's the issue.

I rarely use the main homepage - so I'm not fussed about it.
