Your going to have to check if he has been browsing whilst over there on his phone but its really expensive per mb

It'll be mobile data, either connecting to a laptop or more likely browsing on the phone.

Does he have a blackberry or xda type phone as these tend to auto connect. You'll have to try and negotiate with the provider...

Depending on the network when roaming data can be as much as £10 a meg.
  • Yeah, you should contact the provider because they should have told you about the data charges when you're roaming. 3 grand worth of data is a lottttttt of browsing, so I would check with the provider. Good luck.
Me: Would you like a drink?

Old Man: I don't drink anymore [awkward silence] that being said...I dont drink any less either!

actually can one tell the network "before" going aboard to bar data roaming?

You could ask them to remove all the data items from your acc. That would work over here, but remember you're not connecting through your own network and 'errors' do creep in.
Simplest option, don't use data when roaming...

I have a feeling they wont do anything, as it is the users responsibility to check chharges abroad. Im not saying I agree with the costs as all just that I cant see him having much luck. Data would be to do with connecting to the internet, of which in the UK costs enough money so I can only imagine the costs from abroad.

It doesn't take a lot of time to rack up a bill like that with data calls to be honest.

Did he tell o2 he was going away? What type of phone is it?
