Just scoured the A+L website and can't find any mention of it closing.
Any chance you could point me in the right direction?

I can't find that mentioned on the website anywhere. I was thinking of opening an account so will have to hurry if this is true!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Except for death and paying taxes, everything in life is only for now... Avenue QOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 003

Sorry took me a while to find the link again.
Its a media press release.
States at bottom of page that from 12th April rate will revert to 4.5% to new customers.MFW predicted end date: was 6.1.2026, now 3.3.20190 -
I just opened a Halifax ISA at 5% fixed for one year at a branch in my village. Their un-fixed rate was only 3.5% I think but I get the chance to fix again next year.
Fell out with A&L so I wont use them - EVER!Love living in a village in the country side0 -
I opened an A&L direct ISA Issue 2 a couple of weeks ago for my 50/06 allowance.
If I have read this right, I can still put my 06/07 allowance in the same ISA and still get the bonus on this part, even if the money goes in after Tuesday 11th of April.
Have I read this right?
I hope so because I don't have the funds available for about 10 days.
Please can someone confirm that I am right in assuming that I put the 06/07 allowance in the same ISA and I dont need to open a new one for this year0 -
I just read this. I have read that this is for "brand new customers only"
ie opening after the 12th.

Yes, no new applications from 12th.
Existing customers of Issue 2 can continue to pay in.0 -
I applied for a direct isa issue 2 on the 4th April and got a reply on the 7th at 17.41 to tell me my application has been succesful.
The account hasn't yet been added to my current account (which is with Alliance & Leicester as well) yet, so I can't pay into it yet.
As my application has been opened but no money yet paid into it, do I still get the bonus?0 -
I should think that any account opened before the 12th will carry the bonus - otherwise A&L would be breaking the original terms.
anyone applying AFTER the 12th won't get the bonus - at least that's what I'm hoping too.
Basically, if you've got your ISA account number already, you'll be OK.
By the way, extremely p*ssed off already with their transfer speed - or lack of. 10 days to move money from one account to the next! Pa-thetic!!!!0 -
I have got my ISA account number so I think I'll be o.k, albeit by the skin of me teeth!!!!!
I presume I still get the bonus on the money I'm transferring into it from my other ISA as well as my intitial £,3000?0
