This FREE Trial - FREE Voucher offer expires on 6th May 2006. The offer is only valid for first-time subscribers to ScreenSelect.co.uk or any other Video Island operated service. Offer may not be redeemed in conjunction with any other offer and is limited to one per household. The free trial expires 21 days after registration or when we send you your sixth DVD rental, whichever is the sooner. A valid credit/debit card is required to redeem the offer.
The registration process includes providing a current e-mail address, password, home address (so ScreenSelect.co.uk can send out the DVDs), credit or debit card details (to verify identity) and creating a selection of at least ten titles. Only users who have fully completed the registration process to sign up for the free trial will receive a £20 voucher.
The £20 voucher will be dispatched within 28 days of registration. At expiry of the free trial period, credit/debit cards will be automatically billed for the monthly subscription fee based on the package selected, unless subscription has already been cancelled. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time, however, no refunds or credits will be given for partial monthly subscription periods. Visit http://www.screenselect.co.uk for full terms and conditions of the free trial and click here for full terms and conditions of using the £20 voucher.
I think when you sign up you are asked to compile a list of dvds that you want to rent. Then when you return one you will be sent the next on your list. I think the idea is that you set up the list of ten, then forget to cancel and then they keep sending them as usual. You get charged after 5 rentals I think so this stops people from only entering 4 titles and trying to lessen the chance of not paying the charge. Obviously it still runs out after 21 days.
All of which is a roundabout way of saying... it isn't something to worry about if you cancel before the free period is up!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Just means you need to have a minimum of 10 dvd's in your selection. Simply find 20 dvd's/games you want (which won't be hard) and you will get your goodies quicker and will also have met the t&c's for the voucher.
Make a note of when you will be charged and when you should cancel. Its so easy to forget & get charged & they will NOT refund, guess its why they all offer these free trials :j :j0 -
Thanks for this. I've just registered, hope the £20 voucher does arrive as I'm not a big fan of DVD rental!0

Beware - the cancellation page states that:Cancellation won't become effective until all our discs are received back at our Distribution Centre.
So be sure to cancel and return the discs in good time!0 -
Edit: andrew_farrell beat me to this but here's my post anyway
I went searching for this info myself so thought it might be of use to others
How to cancel your subscription: (from here http://www.screenselect.co.uk/visitor/terms_and_conditions.html )
Cancellation
As noted above, you may cancel your subscription to ScreenSelect at any time. Cancellation requests must be via the website, https://www.screenselect.co.uk. To cancel, customers must notify us online via the website by clicking on "My account" and following the instructions under the heading "Cancel my subscription." This activity is tracked on the customer's account history. Immediately upon requesting cancellation, no further discs will be dispatched to you, unless they were processed by our warehouse a few minutes prior to your cancellation request. We are unable to accept or guarantee initial cancellation requests via email or telephone.
Please note that it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that all discs are returned, and all discs must be returned to us before the cancellation will be confirmed. All discs must be returned before the next billing date following cancellation to avoid any further charges. Once all discs have been returned, the cancellation will take effect immediately and a confirmation email will be sent to you. We reserve the right to charge a replacement cost of up to £20 for any non returned DVDs, and £50 for any non returned games discs. To avoid problems, we advise obtaining a certificate of posting when you return our discs to us. Please note we do not provide refunds or credits for any partial subscription periods.
So take note, return all dvds etc in plenty of time and make sure you get registered post just in case, sounds like a good precaution. Adds some expense but still, we're getting a £20 voucher! I think I might just get one or two dvds max and cancel well before the 21 days is up, just to be safe!
I also found this for anyone not getting their voucher: (from here http://www.dvd.co.uk/landingpage.asp?id=8 )
Voucher codes will be sent to the email address that you used to register for the DVD Rental service. It is your responsibility to make sure that you receive the voucher code. If it does not arrive within 14 days of registering for the DVD Rental service, contact us at help@dvd.co.uk and we will investigate the voucher code.
Hope that helps!

Sorry to sound daft, but do you have to use the £20 voucher to rent dvds from the screenselect website - or can you buy dvds from them? The reason I ask is that if you cancel your subscription early within the 21 days (to be on the safe side), you would no longer be registered with them and therefore not able to use the voucher to rent dvds from them. Have I understood that correctly? Advice would be appreciated. So far I've registered and received the e-mail saying my account has been activated (despite not entering min 10 titles). thanks.0

The voucher is with dvd.co.uk, not with screenselect.co.uk. See my TOS of the voucher your get a page or 2 back
I dont think you will get a dvd sent until you select 10 titles. Make sure you do so that you can receive the dvd's.
Hope this helps, Matt0 -
Thanks Matt - I'm even more confused now. Should I have registered with dvd.co.uk not screenselect.co.uk? Or does the fact that I've registered with screenselect mean they will send me a £20 voucher to buy dvds from dvd.co.uk as they are linked companies? And do I still need to give them the 10 titles to get the voucher sent? I'm just worried that once they've got 10 titles they may send them en masse to me and say I received 7 in one week I wouldn't have had time to cancel and will send up being charged on credit card. Or do I cancel now before I've given them the 10 titles? Beginning to wish I'd never started this - only trying to get an extra birthday dvd for my son. Didn't want to rent any dvds at all. Advice appreciated.0

Ive just signed up for this too, Im going to get a couple of DVD's watched before cancelling.
But will make sure I cancel as soon as I send it back in the post, that way they cant send me another out until they receive it back therefore no chance of crossover
Thanks to OP for this :beer:0
