Resigning does NOT look better on a CV. Wherever did you get that idea! There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

If it looks like they are trying to push you out - rock the boat a bit!
Raise a grievance regarding the unrealistic targets, show how eveyone is affected - hit them with numbers. If they ignore the grievance or terminate your employment hit them with a claim for unfair dismissal.
This looks to me like a way in which they can avoid redundancy payments.0 -

what would be the actual consequences of saying in a very straightforward manner, during the review process, that you believe the targets are unrealistic, would this make your situation any worse
If not I might be tempted to do this, as I think for me it would reduce the stress of the situationLindsayO

Well its all over and am no longer there.
Went in for a review and basically was told that unless I went they would go down discipliary route and make life really really hard.
However if I went they would appreciate it and reward me as such.
So have gone but in fairness have parted on good terms with a great reference and a good relationship.
In the 48 hours since I have left have been offered 2 new jobs and have another two interviews lined up for next week. Am not sure if I will take any as really fancy a change and to do something with less money but more personal satisfaction.
On a personal note I feel more relaxed and happy than I have for a long time and while I dont know what the future holds am excited and looking forward to it.
Thanks for all the advice Gents (and Laydeeeeeeeeees)

I read this thread and thank god I never went to work in Sales! Different planet.0

This sounds like a situation I was in with a financial services company who wish to be regarded as "The most admired company in financial services". Yeah right.........0
-
I wish you all the best for the future whatever you decide to do, I fully understand what you have faced.
As I went through exactly the same situation but the company were not so supportive in fact after head hunting me to join them 12 months ago (All but 2 Days!!!) once the recession hit they have reduced their sales force from 8 to 2!!!! by performance management not redundancy.......
And 4 weeks after handing my notice in I am still awaiting my personal reference from my manager.
I have hopefully secured employment with another company; however I have now also retraining in a new profession not sales.

Agatha - Yep sounds like what happened to me. Was headhunted to go there about 3 years back.
Funnily enough had a call from a colleague today at same company but different division to say he had just come out his appraisal and was advised that he may wish to consider his future as numbers were below objective (but still average for his team).
He said on the table in front of him were two docs, one was a performance management plan and the other was a letter of resignation with 2 months gardening leave thrown in and a great reference.
He said he was off to B&Q to buy some gardening gloves and some seeds
Lol and yep the place I was at was very proud to announce they were in the top 100 employers this year.0 -
Quick update - Have been for four interviews this week - 2 jobs but first and second interviews for both (not sure if this is standard practice these days as second round questons all seemed the same as the first so maybe they were checking I had 2 shirts and 2 ties
.
Have been offered both jobs. :j
Reason for the post is not to gloat but to mention that I have applied for 17 jobs online (vis Reed, Monster, and other online agencies) and 2 from local and specialist papers which required completion of an application form.
The two which required my to spend 30 minutes writing things down were the two I had interviews for.
I have yet to hear anything back from the other 17 which makes me wonder if were there in the first place. I see a lot of posts from people saying they are applying and hearing nothing and am wondering if my experience is a common one.0
