That first post is amazing, isn't it! Hypno, I'm just staggered you know where your first post was, actually - I have no clue about mine, none at all........

I keep writing and deleting things about this recession and the 1970s... I'm going to stop being an old fart. This is a tough time right now, and its especially tough because we've had such a long period of plenty. Actually, that *is* like the 1970s - the 1960s, although incredibly primitive technologically by our standards, were wealthy compared to what had gone before.....I'll get me coat.

Not at all! I'll hide your coat...

Can't find my number one post because I joined in threads for a month or so, and the post list only goes back 300 (which takes me to August 2009 :rotfl:). I need to get a life!

We as a species: no, we will never learn.

We as individuals: yes, we will. And we can share that knowledge around to those that are receptive. Although there are none so blind as those that won't see - the ones that will see can make all the difference.

    True, Z.....

In other, less philosophical news, I have done another half hour of decluttering.......sorted out some paperwork that relates to this house, and ditched a whole lot of other, unnecessary paperwork that we kept. And put the "necessary" stuff in a proper box, with the remainder in the bin/shredder/recycling.

I also did some more sorting of presents - I have gathered several freebie/bought with vouchers cosmetic/body lotion type things, and have a nice box that is "recycled" from a present I was given last year, so am making DD a beauty box, for her stocking at Christmas. I reckon I can pad it out with a bath bomb and one of those shower scrunchies and make a nice prezzie for very little cost.

I have found another couple of gifts from years gone by that have never been used/opened, so can be recycled amongst family members......as long as I remember who gave them to me in the first place so they don't get them back again.:o:p

The rewards of decluttering - finding hidden treasure is always a bonus. Keep going and you'll have next Christmas sorted as well!

Pinch, punch first of the month and all that - it is October......and we are into the last quarter of the year......where HAS it all gone!

I've requested a transfer of my debt pot savings to my current account - they should be there on Tuesday, and I will pay in my cheque for the loan today, which should clear shortly after that.

I logged into one of my scratchcards today to find a £5 "VIP" bonus  I'm not complaining because it has taken me up to cashin on that one, so £10 winging its way to my bank account in the next couple of days.

I have £95 quidco money marked as ready to pay out which is a nice amount too. I expect that will arrive in the middle of next week.

so, all in all, not a bad start to the month. I want to do some number crunching later on - I don't think I'll get chance to do so at work, but will endeavour to do it this evening when I get home.

Happy October everyone, and I hope you are all well x
