Still a long way to go, but gradually making the place habitable!
I wouldn't worry about making the place presentable too much. My parents bought their current house 12 years ago and only just finished renovating it, due to the time pressures of working full time and raising 5 kids. We never minded0 -
But our student is paying to stay here - we must at least make sure it doesn't risk life or limb :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

hypno06 - im amazed and inspired by how much debt you have paid off in the space of just under 2 years, you must be so proud, im just under 51k in debt and would love to be in the position that i can follow your footsteps and pay so much off, unfortunatley at the moment i find more going out than coming inFocusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T0

If you go back and read my old diaries, dottyanne, you will see that I too have more going out then coming in......the secret lies in getting money in from elsewhere - taking advantage of every MSE trick going, cutting back on groceries, even when you think you are cutting back already, addressing the SOA regularly to make sure you really ARE doing all you can etc etc.
It just depends on how much you want to achieve your debt freedom and how much effort you are prepared to put into doing it.
I know you work and have children etc, but I do too - I just make sure that I fit extra "stuff" around them - mystery shopping in my lunch hours, getting the children involved in ebaying stuff, everyone in the house being aware of the situation and not complaining when it is pasta again......that type of thing!
So, it can be done......if you want it badly enoughSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Absolutely! You really work hard and play hard, Hypno, I so admire your energy.
Mind you, I have a little bit of energy of my own today. You know that £14.65 bingo money I was wittering about earlier? When I phoned the freebie customer service line, they told me I needed to deposit an equivalent amount, and play it through, then withdraw the £14.65 - when I kept asking what difference that would make, they eventually said, well, you can keep any winnings. So I went on about how disappointed I was not to be able to withdraw it, and shut down to have a think. It felt like a bit of a risk, but I did deposit that amount of real money, and played through £14.70, to be on the safe side - with the result that £24.05 is now winging its way towards me!
I reckon that means I can colour in the square I was aiming for, but because my squares are only £25, it leaves me aggravatingly near the next one at £1523.58!!! I'm *not* going to do anything else today tho, I'm going out for a walk.
Shaun - thanks for the kick!
Here endeth the hijack2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good info, i have made the kids aware that we need to watch the pennies, turn of taps and not fritter the eleccy too, they are quite good and dont pester for new things all the time like some kids i know, we are comitted to becoming df asap as the stress is a !!!!!! and i hate it!! just to have some direction is good, i regularly check my debt balances (have a spreadsheet thats updated monthly) so i can see the debts go down, 4 of my debts are due to be paid off next year and I have 4 smallish ones that im hoping to clear by this time next year too, wish me luck!! xFocusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T0

Hi guys,
Hope everyone is having a nice afternoon and weekend!
I did a fantastic MSE thing. Got my new phone contract! But I couldn't use quidco as it would've cost me a tenner more each month...
However for £3 more each month, I get a new touchscreen thingy, free internet access and double the texts and minutes including 200 minutes overseas a month! :j I claimed Orange were offering a better package and didn't want to leave and 5 minutes later I get this!Yes it's an 18 month contract but I'm ok with that.
New job starts in 8 weeks so I'm preparing a whole host of MSE thingys and mystery shops to keep some beer money coming in. Credit card payments will be covered by Dooyoo as I have almost got enough reviews stored up in Word to cover £150 worth of payments which accounts to four being posted each day for the first week going down to two in the following weeks to avoid spamming...
Glad you enjoyed Boyzone, I loved them at Wembley! I even danced to Stephen Gately doing Beyonce's Single Ladies!:beer: Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -

God luck Dotty, you can do this! The stress no doubt feels horrible but it will be worth it in the end. Also, 'utilise' the kids for a spot of earnings potential. They can usually type quicker so get them both Dooyoo accounts for Amazon vouchers or cash.:beer: Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
