think you need to list what counts as normal spends and what is deducted from the £20

im thinking the £20 is basically treats money ie
whilst out or at work you buy,,,,
    coffee
    sandwich
    chocolate/sweets/ice cream
    news paper
not bread and milk or a tin of peas for diner???
basically any item you could have brought from home with a bit more planning that you dident really need to buy ,,,,

That's the sort of thing - yes, anything that isn't essential. So for me, any coffees, lunches, chocolate at work, or at the ski club....also, treats for the children have to come out of the £20, so if we go to McD it has to come out of that money!

For me it doesn't include things like bread, milk or cat food that need buying, but if I wanted anything else, then it has to come out of the £20.

Basically it is anything I should "think twice" about before spending!

No money going in or out of the bank today.......I have a mystery shop to do at lunchtime....and it is day 15 for my current £20 :D

Have a good day everyone - TFI Friday!!!

  • Happy Friday :j

Count me in on the £20.00, might stop me wandering to the staff shop just in case there is a bargain - oh the joys of working for food company!! I always come out with a can of pop and a bar of choc (28p per bar so can't resist :o).

my downfall is magazines but yesterday i got Red for the free bag, and inside it has 1 years subs for £12, normally £3.50 a month.

Daren't look at houses - DH keeps talking about them but we are at least 10 years away from thinking about it. Shelley and Hypno - keep going you arent that far away.

    Have a good day all,

Wish I could join in the challenge! I don't buy much of that sort of stuff.... might be a cup of tea and a sarnie in London instead of packing my little flask and boiling some rice and whatnot..... but at that rate, the £20 would last me nearly 7 weeks..... and I'm not going into London today or tomorrow as planned, got a lurgy. Still. Ah well - enjoying reading the diary, thats the main thing.

Hypno and Shelley .... fancy posting a link to the Norwich dream houses? It'd be nice to dream too..... :D

Good morning Hypno, just saw your new diary, thought I had better post before you start chapter 9!

Regarding your first posts about being criticised for how you spend money, all I can say is that there are not many people who can start with a debt of around £100,000 and get it paid off in about 3 years or so, even with the help of inherited money. It is clear that you have slogged long and hard to get where you are now, and anyone who has an issue with your kids going on school trips and holidays must have a touch of the green eye about them, so bullocks to the lot of them I say! This time next year it is a real possibility that you will be debt free so get your head down and focus on that target, but enjoy some quality of life on the way.

Sermon over - I am ashamed to say I have only achieved 2 no spend days so far this month, must try harder.

Good morning all the rest of you lurkers and let's get on with the show!
One life - your life - live it!
