i think it depends on what people call cleaning, when i move out on monday all i need to do is clean loo and hoover, because i do my housework 3 times a week proply, if you guys have to start cleaning skirtings then your all a scummy lot!! lolYou're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0

When we moved into this house it was disgusting. It stank and we had to rip up all the old carpets and there were silverfish running everywhere. I would always clean but we have lived in 3 houses and only one of them was clean when we moved in. We are moving again soon and the house we are moving to seems clean but it is a deceased persons house and we will be cleaning and ripping up all the carpets again. I cant help it but i am very squeamish. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

what's a silverfish?! do you need to keep them in a silverfish tank?!The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

Hubby goes off at me for the amount of cleaning I do of a place we are leaving because he knows damm well that the house we will be going too wont be left as clean.
This move, we arrived to find the garage full of furniture, a full skip on the drive, garden full of dog !!!!!!, no oil for the boiler and well I just had to throw the loo seats out as they were beyond a clean.
And this house was one of the cleaner ones Ive moved into0 -
You lot are making me want to move to a NEW house when we finally upsticks. _pale_
FWIW......I hate cleaning and housework, I think it's the most boring thankless task I have ever had to do! However, there is NOOOOOOO way I would ever leave a dirty house for someone else to see, let alone have to move into and clean.
Sorry OP, another vote for 'clean it' here. Bet you wished you hadn't asked now.Herman - MP for all!0 -

When we bought this house, the seller was embarrassed at the state she was leaving the carpets. The day after we moved in a carpet cleaning firm phoned to arrange a time to clean all the downstairs carpets, courtesy of the previous owner!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I couldnt leave it without giving a clean even if its just a quickie IYSWIM.
I always try and picture the shoe on the other foot. I wouldnt be happy buying a property then having to clean before moving in.
I would make sure all horizontals are wiped down with maybe bleach or vinegar so smells fresh/clean. Check for cobwebs and give the inside windows a wipe if smudgy. Sweep the floors. Dont have to be a deep clean.

when we moved out of our last property, my dh and i spent days making sure everything was pristine, a young couple had bought it as there first home, we left a card and a bottle of wine and a box with spare tiles, paint matches and cupboard knobs, 3 days before we moved ignitation switch broke on hob, sent hubby for a new hob .Anyway a week later i was at hospital, someone i knew said a collegue had moved into our road, told her we moved, she then said the collegue was really pleased as the previous owners had left the house so they did not have to do anything and that they had even renewed the hob. yes it was our old house they were talking about, the new owner had been singing our praises, i felt so proud we had made the effort to help a young couple have a good start in their life together.:hello:What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
