our next main purchase is dsi for dd1 - its a bit out of our budget of £100-120, but she is doing her 11+ exams around that time so we are being a bit more genorous, i am a bit worried about it being so pricey (at mo cheapest is amazon at circa £135), she has said she will take dslite it the dsi is too pricey, but i might ask my mum dad to help pay for dsi, so that we are not out so much money ... I am also going for any competition mentioned on the forum that has a dsi or dslite as a prize ... would be just fab to win one and not have to pay out so much on 1 item

Sorry that was suppose to look like this lol

    HOLIDAY GRAND PLAN

    WEEK 1 - LIST WEEK

    Grand Plan Deep Cleaning/Organizing Area:
    Front Porch (garden)

    Holiday Prep
    Make the following lists:

Gifts to be given, amount to spend (include family, friends, school, church, etc)
Christmas card list (computerize it!) Print list and update it, if needed. Decide how many cards are needed.
    Visits to make
    Parties/Entertaining
Menus for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, other parties
Goodies for Sharing/Gifts. Decide how much needs to be made and divide it between the weeks from now through December 1.
Favorite Meals of Family members for freezing ahead.
Long-term shopping list divided into: canned foods, perishables for each holiday, linens and dishes, decorations, etc.

So I am treating my garden/entrance hall as my porch. It needs
    - the walls repainting,
    - floor tiles finishing being pulled up (half done cos i got bored)
    - a light bulb replacing thats been out for about 3 weeks!
    and the garden needs
    - rubbish picking up
    - weeding
    - windows cleaning
    - path and front step sweeping.

(I will have to attempt to do this between showers though!!!)

Also the holiday prep I have
    - done the gift list
    - done the card list
    - attempting to make a holiday menu list
    - trying to figure out a decorating theme!

I'll be back to check things off as I go although get the feeling this will be done between Wednesday and Friday when Ben is at school!

Am happy to post these each week in case people cant see what the next week is or don't have time to get over to OC
    Time to find me again

    4. Recreate the Nativity with your children's toys. I admit that you probably will get some interesting comments- especially if you don't have kids! - but this can be a great way to reinforce the Christmas story. Arrange them on a small table, using a sheet for the ground if you'd like. Just make sure any Barbie dolls you use are dressed. (Helps if they have their heads attached, too.)

Hahaha, this would be hilarious! I can see it now - an Eyeore Mary, Tigger as Joseph and a little baby Gloworm Jesus!

Just bought a bucket and car cleaning sponges etc from Mr A for my car mad brother as part of his Christmas present. Very pleased as I will use the bucket as the hamper part instead of a basket and wrap a big ribbon and bow around it. I would never have thought of doing anything like this before reading this board.

    Costing
    Bucket £1
    Microfibre cleaning mit £1.25
    Noodle cleaning pad £3
    Demister pad 46p
2 pack sponges with bug remover sponge £1
    Industrial towel roll £2

Total £8.71 - v.pleased with all of this for under £10 and I think he will use it and like it!

Brother's present coming along nicely now as is mums. Still giving some thought to OH's

Will be printing off the orgainized lists to help with the preparations and see if I have missed anything. I lit a candle last night and it reminded me of winter time! Feels good to be preparing and hoping to miss a mad rush later on in the year.

Have a good party Sarah - that cake sounds interesting! Hope it works for you!
