I nearly replied to the petition, and then I thought why should I. Thanks for posting, as I know I am not the only one.

I had to laugh at the title of the email 'Demand an end to unfair trade practices'

I am frankly amazed they had the cheek to send it.

I got the email and I told them what I thought.

eBay, who compel you to use their own inhouse payment service, are complaining against 'unfair trade practices'?

    Pot, kettle, black.

    I won't be signing.

And on the announcement board - http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200907061154492.html

I'm very sceptical as to the motive behind this.

What a ginormous cut in fees they would be missing out on if all those traders weren't allowed to sell anymore.

I'm not signing any petition for ebay. They've been down on the small sellers like us for long enough. They need a taste of their own medicine.

Has anyone sent the email to "spoofd@ebay"?

No surprise, but it came back with the following message...
Thank you for letting us know about the suspicious email you received. I
sincerely appreciate your initiative and vigilance in bringing this to
    our attention.

Please be assured that eBay did not send this email to you. Based on the
information you've given us, the email is likely to be a fake, or
    "spoof" email.

To assist you better, I've checked your account and I can confirm you
there's nothing wrong with your account at this time. I recommend that
you ignore this email and delete it from your email account. Don't
respond or click on any links, buttons or pictures in the email.

I received this email too and couldn't help wondering why they are wasting time with a petition, instead of taking some actual action against all these counterfeits they claim to be the problem. Perhaps I just read it wrong..
