I think it sounds good, not as much of a mouthful as you had me imagining it would be lol. If you want to keep our name then you should do whatever you feel happiest with

i agree...i was expecting it to be a right mouthfull but i actually think it sounds quite good
its probably because you aren't used to it, try saying it to yourself a few times each day, I think you would get used to it quite quickly.Married on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
My H2B is latin-american and I'm taking their way of changing names, which is ridiculously complicated to be honest... They all have two names and two surnames, and mix them all up when they marry.
For Example (without using our real names) say Juan Gabriel Lopez Perez marries Maria Gabriela Diaz Montenegro, she becomes Maria Gabriela Diaz de Perez. Their kids however will have the surnames Perez Diaz.
Confused?! I was!Married Ajichombo on 17th April 2010 :j0 -
We've pretty much decided to go double barreled(sp?) as we're having a civil partnership it's a little different, neither of us really wanted to loose our own names but didn't want to just stay the same! So we're each keeping our last name & taking each others eg. If I was Smith & she was Jones I'd be Jones-Smith & she'd be Smith-Jones. Looking into changing by deed poll is on my to do list!
By the way Miller-Turnbull sounds fine - others are right, you probably just need to get used to it."Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0 -
We both double-barrelled our names. I have a publishing record under my name that I didn't want to lose, and my OH didn't want to take my name and drop his completely.

I applied for my deed poll today
There's not many family members with our surname left (3 of us I think and 2 of us are girls), and so I feel quite strongly about losing my name....anyway I'm going to make my maiden name a middle name. We were thinking of going double-barrelled, but it's just not us. One day I will be out of my student debt, one day... :beer:0 -
I just want to throw in that I have four female cousins, and their father has the last of his names, their uncle also has girls. Two of them have married and kept their names, but have also given their names to the first born son to keep the name going.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. I LOVE my name, its my name and I'm not getting rid of it. OH knows how I feel and has suggested having it double barraled but i think it sounds pathetic.
My name is Gow and I'm marrying a Hawkins, to me I'm not a Mrs Hawkins so I'm going to be Mrs Gow-Hawkins as G comes before H in the alphapet. I love my name because it is fairly uncommon but the double barrel does sound a bit pretentious but any kids we have in future will be known only by Hawkins as its not fair to inflict gow-hawkins on them. another reason why i dont want to loose my name is cause its taken me ages to get the signature i like and i can adept it slightly to the double barral without interuping the flow of it.Debt free 3 years early :j

I am keeping my own name for a few reasons.
1/Firstly I like it and am used to it,dont see any good reason to change it.
2/personally I feel changing name signifies ownership by new hubby and I dont like the connotations.
3/we have been together for 18 years and have children already, all of whom have my name too.My eldest is an adult buy now so if I took OHs name and changed the younger one there would be one child with a different name anyway,so we would still not have the whole family with the same name.
4/I suggested to OH if he wants us all to have the same name he can change his so its the same as ours but guess what?He thought it was a ridiculous idea.I asked him why and he said he likes his own name,he is used to it and doesnt see why he should change it.He would feel odd at changing the name he was given at birth and would feel like he had lost an important part of himself and his identity.
That was the end of the argument.
If our names suited being double-barrelled that would be a good compromise, but they don,t.
Your names do sound good together.Practise saying it and see how you feel about it in a little while.Lucky you having an OH who doesnt mind either way."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
