    OP,

    As suggested, go for the MOT first - from Woolwich these guys aren't too far away in Deptford and are really good - member of Good Garage Scheme, and all they do is MOTs:

    I had mine done a few weeks ago, and there's no charge until the car passes.

    Why change the cambelt?

    The head gasket will go anyway making the whole car scrap. Remember it's a Rover and they're $hite.
    a dead head gaskets cheeper then a snapped belt..and i was talking about cars in genral. i do know rovers are worth more money in weight then to buy as a runaround:p
