  • I have just read all of the replies to this problem. Nits go for any hair no matter what the length or how clean it may be. Tea tree does work but nits do become immune to it like all the specialist shampoos.
The old fashioned way using conditioner and a nit comb regularly are the only guarantees of ridding them.
You dont say how many nits your son has so its hard to tell how long he has had them and are they fully grown? If there is only a few and they are fully grown then they more than likely have been picked up from his dads place.
As for no sheets and pillow case on his bed, are the other childrens beds like that too, is your son getting bullied by them in any way?
these are all things i would like to look into if it were my child.

I found out my 3 DDs all had nits (at the hairdressers ) and even she said at the moment they are rife everywhere and that it's nothing to be ashamed of.

She gave me some stuff called nitty gritty which is new so the nits aren't immune to it and it kills the eggs as well as the actual lice. Anyway it was £10 for this bottle and i did all 3 DDs and still have 2/3 of it left! (i dye my hair which kills everything)

Your family situation sounds very frustrating! If i was in your situation i would get a solicitor to take a statement from your DS (depending on his age) saying that he does not want to go there anymore.

I realise this answer is a little off-track but if you have only one DS a bottle of that nitty gritty would probably last about 5 years :T

  • I have had the same problem, boys used to stay at dads and a few days later would have "visitors" and start scratching.
It was obvious they came from dads stepkids as they were always being sent home with nits.
I dealt with my ex and told him they would not be allowed to stay over any more, and that if they kept getting them that he would not be allowed to take them to the house as they were obviously gettting them from her kids.
OP, you do not have to have any dialogue with new wife, especially not abuse, if she calls hang up, your ex needs to deal with you about your child
    Good luck

    Hi

Nits wouldnt have set in over night as stated above!

As for the no pillowcase and duvet cover.....this is actually quite common and social services would do nothing about this.

Maybe the way you were spoken too wasnt ideal, but you used bad language back. You should have put your son in abother room if the conversation was going sour.

TBH though, if I had received even a polite email basically saying as you did that their place was unclean, then I would have gone mental too.

Does he beat the child, or not feed him etc?

I'm sorry but I dont think you could stop visits over this!

And this is why you're not working for Social Services.

Perhaps you should leave such comments to qualified professionals and carry on with your internet competitions?

When Social Services are not getting involved in clear cut cases of neglect, they aren't going to be interested in a child not having a pillowcase or cover for his duvet. It's frankly nothing to do with them - and it certainly isn't neglect!

I realy feel for you having been thrugh similar myself.

My Ds would always come back from his dads with a few lice. Turns out a boy he was playing with at his dads always had nits.

Getting nits is just part of being a kid sometimes - it just really annoys me when a child has nits but the parents do naff all to get rid of them.

I now use vosene 3-in-1 shampoo every time i wash the kids hair and the vosene nit repellent every morning before school - we havent seen a nit for 10 months now.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

My husband is foreign and when he first moved to the UK he didn't have a cover on his duvet - he didn't realise he was supposed to until I told him. It's hardly criminal is it?

Bella my skids had nits on and off for 12 months, me and their dad treated them every time they were with us which is 60% of the year but as soon as they visited their mum and their half siblings who were infested they came back.
Social services were already involved due to some other stuff and they didnt give a toss that the kids had continuous nits
