Hoping someone has some ideas about this. We have had a recordable DVD for about 15months and it has suddenly started skipping tracks and sometimes it refuses to read a DVD. The message comes up "No Disc".
Does anybody know anything we can do, or do we need to buy a new DVD recorder?

Does it do it with any DVD? You could try cleaning the lens as it could be dirty.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Hi
Have you tried a dvd cleaner, sometimes the lens can gather dirt/dust. You can pick them up from most supermarkets.
Hope this helps0 -
I have a panasonic dvd recorder connected to my tv and sky box
when i play dvds no probs but when i want to record the message comes up that disc is incompatible,
I am using 80 min/700mb/s2x dvd cd-r
i have a whole box of these unused but the same message comes up.
what do i do to record programmes?0 -
you're using recordable CD's instead of DVD's. DVD's are 4.7Gig and yours are 700mb CD's.0

sorry I made a mistake
the discs are DVD+RW 120 mins 4.7gbdata 1-4certified speed
am I using the right discs or have i connected it up wrong - but the dvd plays back ok only cannot record since message reads incompatiable discs
sorry but can someone help me0 -
you probably need DVD-R disks insteas of DVD+R. I've got 2 DVD recorders and have the same problem if i use + DVD's in one and - DVD's in the other,0

The Panasonic DVD writer I have can only write onto DVD-RAM and DVD-Rs. I think some later ones can write onto DVD-RWs. There is a compatability issue with Panasonic and DVD+R/DVD+RW. It should tell you in the manual...0

Do you have any idea as to what make/model it is? Can be found in device manager.
Could try upgrading the firmware.0 -
doubt it T4, they want to record off Sky.0

Panasonic only support DVD-RAM/DVD-R and the new ones support DRD-RW. I haven't seen a Panasonic that supports +R/RW. I think that is what the problem is caused by. Just check which discs are supported by your machine.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0
