Crawls in....morning all! I had a fantastic day yesterday, I struggled with myself, but really enjoyed seeing lots of my friends and family and the talks/demos etc were really excellent, lots to think about. Looking forward to doing the rest of it next weekend.
Am completely exhausted today, have been up since 10, all I've done is peel and dice 10 carrots. DH has gone out this afternoon, while he is gne, he wants me to peel and chop a milllion potatos - he is making a cottage pie when he gets home. I think he is doing a huge batch and is going to freeze it in portions of two - he got some foil trays the other day which are just the right size to put cottage pie in to freeze.I have a real job getting anything done when everyone is in the house, their presence bugs me, anyone find that?:rotfl:
Well done Valli for not having a drink and losing weight
hugs and hope you feel better soon msgnomey and Holly and Triker and Soappie’s knees and Hippy and Loshypops (ring NHS direct, or your out of hours doctors if you are worried you might have swine flu)
Pigpen, Mumofjusttwo and Tag and Me and Valli, big hugs to you and your children
Oddjob, hope you enjoyed your picnic! You have a wonderful sense of humour, sorry to hear about the shower but at least it wasn’t too serious
SGT the Feria sounds amazing
Hugs Pigpen, how sad about XH’s gran – hope you have still had a good time with DS1, GF and Jacob
Sarah sounds like you did a really good job with the class yesterday, was your DD there when you were talking about her or was she doing something else?
Helen, hope your wedding was lovely and you had a great day, congratulations to you both (thanks Toots, I wasn’t sure if it was today or not)
Hi Madcatgirl – I love Morse, I’ve got every single episode! They were from a lady I worked with who was getting rid of all her videos and changing over to DVD – she gave me Morse, Frost and Sharpe
Frodders, wow what great gifts for your colleagues who left – great tent too
Poohbear hope you and your DH have enjoyed your evening together
Congratulations to Me’s DD on the new job, I remember my first interview - it was terrifying!
Soappie sometimes doorbells are activated by people unlocking their cars with the key fob unlocking thingy (as opposed to the key in the lock). I think it’s a lovely idea to start operation SHUNT, you will be welcome for a cuppa at my place, and please give all the flyladies a hug from me
Toots, big big hugs, you are very brave, and quite right to make the most of your life. I love you very much and hope you enjoy the rest of your life, hopefully it will be long and happy.
Jinky have a good time with your sweetheart

- [STRIKE]Sort Playroom toyboxes and book cases ready for holidays[/STRIKE] Did an hour on the playroom book cases this morning - two big bag for the charity shop, one black bag of damaged stuff for the bin
- Clear Old work filing box - check for anything that needs to be sent to them, burn/shred the rest (left four years ago and they still havent collected it!)
- Clear SS2's room of boxes, find permanent homes for things like the never used ironing board and the christmas tree which will not fit in the loft Needs to get his lazy backside out of bed so I can get on with this
- [STRIKE]Clear DSs wardrobe of kitchen stuff - if I havent used it in the last year will I ever use it again?
[/STRIKE]
- Sort CD's into correct boxes
CD's or old work filing - which is the lesser evil?
Toots - the boys are on holiday now so I try to accept very little work over the summer holidays. The travel intensive project I was doing over ran, so I lost my rest and catch up week.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Hex, doing the CD's is easier and more fun than the filing"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Can anyone help me please? My DS has walked on a biro which has leaked onto his cushioned floor and I can't get it off. I've tried the infamouse star drops to no avail. Also tried neat washing up liquid, diluted bio washing powder. Have lightened the colour slightly but not much. Any other ideas for things to try?
Many thanks
Ink is not (usually) water soluble and biro ink is thick so you need a solvent BUT some solvents will 'go for' plastics. Don't use nail varnish remover (although you could on fabric - I am assuming this is a lino type flooring). If you haven't got WD40 try lighter fluid or petrol or turps substitute BUT patch/spot test in an out-of-the-way place first.
I notice Toots has also come up with some useful suggestions BTW.
(Just out of interest ladies, petrol is VERY good for lifting tar from things - that's why pterol forecourts are NEVER tarmacced BUT don't use it on skin - the petrol carries the tar into the body through the skin which is not good. For tar on kiddies (think beaches) massage vegetable oils in and wipe and repeat...)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
