  • Haha, nice guys. <3

We've re-screwed thje bolt in, and added a line of superglue to the edge of the screw. Lets see him take it off now!

The timings seem to be totally irregular. My younger brother works nights, and he said that last night he disturbed someone down the bottom of the garden when he had a cigarette at about midnight, and the CCTV has picked this up, and then is re-activated at 4:17am with him again (the 'robber'). LAst time it was 2:49 so there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it!! Have put signs out today warning him he is being watched.

  • How about putting a still of him from the CCTV on outside of the shed door, with a notice saying that the CCTV footage from his last two raids has been passed to the police. It'd be worth it just to get the look on his face!

You need another one trained on the shed so you know who it is that stole your CCTV camera and DVD player.;)

I'll say it again - cos he's obviously keeping trying.;)

Or use the same kit, but trained on the shed now.

Superglue and metal don't really bond well, tbh.

Putting proper bolts through with symmonds/nylock nuts on the back will stop the hasp being removed.;)

If he's taking screws off, he's obviously carrying tools, so I'd avoid confronting him (good chance of using screwdriver as weapon) and leave it to the police.

If you have video evidence of someone attempting to break into your shed at different times, contact the police - surely they would be willing to get involved now?

    Update for you. :P

I have passed all evidence onto the police - Now 4 lots of CCTV - They are "Looking into the incidents"

Saturday night I caught someone attempting to TWOK my car. They had got in and stripped the column down so that they could hot wire. Called 999 and they came out, but by then offender had fled. Car was parked at the front of the house, so no CCTV for that one but police think it's linked.

Sunday night nothing appears to have gone missing, but he was caught two times in around half an hour, just wandering around the garden. Again, hoodie and baseball cap, kept his head down. Am contemplating moving the CCTV camera.

As for training the CCTV camera, it's attached to the shed but he -has- to pass it to get into the garden; It's trained on a piece of walkway that catches the drive and the footpath that leads into the garden. The rest of the area is contained with hedges so he has to pass this bit of the garden to get in.

when I was a kid, my father would often remove the rotor arm from the distributor - I'm sure there must be a more up to date way?

Saying that he put metal bars on the windows and wired them up to a transformer which put on just over 3000v onto the bars. My first job in the morning was to pull a normal 3 pin plug out of the wall before I could play. I was that young I had to use two hands on this 'massive' plug.

Thank you for keeping us up to date!
  • Well, apparently taking the law into your own hands occasionally pays off.

We contacted the local papers, who ran a story on it and pictured some of the CCTV we had. A few days later, the paper contacted us to say that someone had contacted them with information, could they pay on our details?

Anyway, it turns out the ladyt trying to contact us is the mother of the lad pictured in CCTV. We've met with lad + mother and agreed that if he does a little bit of hard graft in the garden for us while we relandscape, and gives back the bike (which he has), we won't contact the police.

And if he doesn't turn up, we have his mummy's phone number. :P

  • Oh, and this lad says he had nothing to do with my car being broken into, and the mother says he was definitly home that night. To be honest, my brother (Who saw the lads) says that this lad is too small to be one of thw two he saw, so he's in the clear for that.
