Things magically going missing from our garden - What to do?!

How many times have you called the police about it? Have you rung them every time? If not, I would keep doing so - every time - and also ask for their security advisor to come round & give some help about CCTV etc.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

The drive itself and it's full length (enough for four cars) is our own property. We have a wrought iron gate at the end of it that swings oipen.
Just caught up with one of my neighbours who says he's having similar things happen; When he fixed the gate shut so that they shouldn't be able to get through it, they took the gate off the hinges. Persistent, for what seems to be very petty crimes (How much is half a bag of cement really worth when the whole bag costs £3? (And don't day £1.50!!!)
The dog wouldn't be left outside. She's not "mean" looking and for all the barking she does, she totally wimps out the moment anyone comes near her.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £0

After having our fence stolen last year we installed cctv on our drive, it was brought from ebay and only cost around £20. The lens is barely an inch across and is discretely placed on our garage. It is so tiny unless you knew it was there you would probably not spot it. It does not cover a large area as we are in an urban area and can only have it covering our property but it shows our drive (so the car when its parked) the corner of our fence and the back gate. We have it connected to an old dvd recorder with a hard drive and just switch it on every night. It certainly gives me peace of mind now.0

you could hide a small camera in some old rubbish. I did this when we were having issues with someone throwing empty alcohol bottles into our garden, turned out our rear neighbour is a closet alchy!0

How peculiar!
My somewhat helpful (and potentially impractical!) solutions:
You could fix up some very noisy motion sensors.
Or cover your gates in superglue (and find a way to stop it drying!).
If it's happening reguarly you could sit out one night and see if you can catch them in the act.0 -
Put a sign up in places they have been creeping with , "yes i can see you CCTV is watching you"0

you could set a wire up with saucepans on it behind the shed/gate. It's like a free motion alarm.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

How about anti-vandal paint? Check with your Police's crime prevention officer where it can be bought....and put it onto the parts of the gate or fence that would be touched to remove them, e.g. hinges
