Morning Chums ,still hot and sticky here ,yesterday was really uncomfortable at Uni .I had my last lecture till September.Very interesting all about Southwark in London.
I can remember reading Enid Blyton when I was a little girl, and even used to have a metal badge that I got from the Edid Blyton magazine that came out once a fortnight. My Dad used to get it from Charing Cross Station on his way home from work in London as our local newsagaent either couldn't or wouldn't stock it. Because of the rationing I loved the descritions of the teas and seemingly unlimitless lemonade in the famous five books. I also liked the Just William books by Richmal Crompton. His naughtiness appealed to me and it was set before W.W.2 when there was no rationing and children also had lots of food. Can you see a theme running through here.My generation were obsessed with food because what we had was I suppose sufficient, but rather stodgy and a bit basic. The thought of being able to have cream cakes or sponge cakes where Mum didn't have to grate carrot to make them seemed untold luxury.Strangely enough I rarely eat many cakes today, although I do make them for my grandchildren.
Well it looks like its going to be another scorcher today but rain is forecast tomorrow .I have got one line of washing out so that should be dry by lunchtime. This afternoon I am off to my youngest DDs for dinner and a great deal of swing-pushing for the little boys .Still all that excercise must be good for me and a darned sight cheaper than a gym.
Only two more weeks until we go to Amsterdam, I hope my DD is feeling a bit better by then .She did seem to perk up a bit last night after dinner and we played cards with the boys until about 9.00.p.m.
My eldest DD and husband have gone up to London today as its my DGD's birthday tomorrow and she wanted to go on the London Eye.I have been already and found it a facinating experience. Holly will be sweet 16 tomorrow, so I bet she will drag her Mum to some shops today at some point. That lass could shop for England. Well time to go and have some breakfast I think (here we go again food :D)Hope everyone has a nice day and gets done all they want to get done .Sundays seem to fly by don't they
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning,

Had a bit of a rough night's sleep last night for various reasons and have lots to do today. Need to paint our bedroom this morning - we painted one wall a dark purple a while ago and we have decided we don't like it so I need to paint the whole bedroom white, and with OH being away the job falls to me!! I also need to weed our driveway it is such a mess, would be better if it was all concrete!!

The weather here is dry and partly sunny which is nice, have done all the washing yesterday which saves a job today.

Anyway suppose I better get dressed and get on with the decorating :(

    Have a nice day all.

My favourite was something like The Naughtiest Girl in School - you'll be pleased to know that she turned out alright in the end - phew! i too longed for Boarding School with Tuck boxes, Lacrosse sticks and illicit midnight feasts but had to make do with the local comp.
dd(12) off to the shops in a bit - she needs to get shoes and trousies for school and some lunch for next week - I give her a tenner every week and she either puts it on her lunch card or buys stuff for a packed lunch - last week it was all cream cheese and smoked salmon bagels.

todays plans are a CleaningFest and then dd and i are going to watch Macbeth together - she has a shakespeare obsession at the moment. for all those in West London praying for rain .... I am about to put the washing out so that should make it start
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Morning all,

It's been a really cold day here. DGS arrived back at 10am. I've just read his bedtime story & hopefully he'll drop off shortly. Miss Marple is on in an hour. Can lay back and veg out. Did some baking this morning and did some yard chores this afternoon with DH. DGS helped. :D Cementing was a big hit. Had HM Pizza for tea with custard & fruit. I was going to make a steamed syrup pudding but I ran out of steam.

Plans this week is to do a few activities with DGS. I feel we take him back to his father's on Saturday & he leaves Sunday.

Ruby Hope the pickles turn out. I didn't want you standing there peeling them for nothing. :D
grandmasam Goodness. That's a bit of a nuisance not being able those types of chores on a Sunday.
halight Hope the twins backs don't give them too much grief today.

Well hope you all have a relaxing Sunday & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I was about to mention the lashings of ginger beer :D Plus the legs of ham, bottled raspberries, halves of fruitcake & crusty bread that the good old farmers wife used to find magically in her pantry ;) Those poor women must never have stopped :rotfl:

    Morning all
I'm still recovering from babysitting last night, DD got home at 2:30, so not as late as planned.
Nothing much planned today, the houswork is calling, but only at a whisper, so I can probably ignore most of it.
Roast lamb with all the trimming later.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
