Have read through thread. Dont know if anyone can help. Going to Malta in 4 days (Great- only booked yesterday!) .
I tried to order my cash to collect as Ive done on privious trips from M & S , however they phoned back, just before closing to tell they could not get malta currency till next week.
Only have 2 cards -visa and DC
Please can anyone recommend best action?
1.Do I risk using my debit card (mortgagetrust) in ATM on arrival there, bit wary after ive read some of the threads and no one has mentioned malta.
2.Buy currency at airport?
3.Find someway to order cash on internet to collect somewhere (Ive tried 2 already but they cannot be collected at the airport were flying from)
Any advice welcome.
Thanks anyway !!!0 -
Try the Post Office - usually give good rates, but not the best and you can select which branch you pick it up from. You can order it online from the website.
The post office won't charge commission on changing currency back - you just need the receipt.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I was going to use travelex and pick some money up at the airport.
I was getting 8000K of czech money -travelex was the best online deal at 40.04 to the pound
Natwest is 38.5 who I normally use, but wont anymore after reading this thread.
Anyway, passing thomas cook I popped in to ask what their rate was.
36 was the reply to which I started walking off.
The guy then asked what rate I had been offred and I said 40 from travelex.
with 60 seconds he had offred me 40.05 which was an even better rate.
This is a £22 saving on the first rate they quoted.
They are ripping people off with their intial rate but seem flexible to pricematching.
Airport rates are normally poor - they assume you have nowhere else to go as you're there to get on your flight.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I have read a whole lot of threads on the previous pages and am still confused!! I am going to Ibiza on Wednesday 16th of this month. I have £600 in my hand which I am just dying to turn into Euros. M&S looks promising, as does the Post Office. However, have I left it too late to hand over my cash for Euros for wed and also I have looked at Thomas Exchange Global who give a much better rate than the two but Im not sure how to go about getting Euros from them?? Please advise. Regards0

Re all of them, you walk in to the travel shop, give them over your pounds and in return they will give euros back to you."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
You being funny?? I know about just walking into a travel agent and exchanging my cash for euros, that wasnt my question.
I was merely worried incase I had left it too late to exchange that quantity of cash. My main query was how do I get Euros from TEG as they are a London based firm and I live in the Nort east? In a nut shell I want the greatest amount of Euros for my sterling, so who is the best provider?0 -

Sorry, wasn't trying to be funny, didn't know where you lived. I guess you will have to stick to M&S if there is one near you."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
