Mine does this from time to time. The signal starts to break up and then after about 30 seconds I get no signal error. As has been stated above the fix for me is to power off for a minute or so, then power it back on. I also do not subscribe to Sky. I do however have the card inserted.
  • I have cancelled my sky subscription and now I can't record using the Sky+ box. Is there a way around this?

No, 'fraid not. It'll only work as a normal Sky box without a Sky+ subscription.

  • Thanks, it look as though I will now have to invest in a Freesat box

I have this exact problem. I thought I needed a ladder to adjust the dish. I will try the off/on method first!!!

(I still have the card in the box)

Ah - I thought you needed a card in the Sky box to get it to play even the free channels (ie. BBC/ITV).
    Am I wrong?

The card provides you with FIVER, FIVEUS and Sky3. If you don't watch these channels, you don't need a card.

  • As far as I know...'cos I have done it.
SKY will sell you a viewing card for a one-off payment of £19.95
The card then allows you to view loads of free to air channels
including ch5 fiver sky3 etc and some movie channels as well.
I take my viewing card and spare box (bought at a car boot sale for a fiver)
away with me when I go touring in my caravan.
They initially told me the card would be "tied" to the box in the home , but
this was not the case....hope this wee bit of info helps
    Cheers

"Free to Air" means just that; no card required.
There's no point in buying a card for a system that isn't working. Check the dish system with another Digibox.
    1. Your problem could be due to a number of issues: misalignment of dish; new obstruction in line of site; faulty LNB; water in cable; faulty power supply unit in digibox; if it's a Panasonic 'allergy' to LNB.
    2. If it's a Panasonic unscrew the input cable, take it out and reconnect it. Has this made any difference?
    3. The next step is to try your digibox with another dish, or try another box with your dish. You should be able to establish if the problem is with the digibox or the installation.
    4. If the problem is with the digibox a repair will cost around £35. If it is with the installation call a reputable local satellite and aerial installer or have a go yourself.
    5. The issue of the card is unrelated. As many have pointed out your ex-subscription card gives you the 'FIVE' bouquet of channels and Sky 3 on your EPG as well as your local BBC1 and ITV regions on 101 and 103 respectively. Without the card 101 will default to BBC1 London and 103 to ITV1 West Midlands, once the receiver has been rebooted.
    6. There is no need to spend £19.57 on a free to view card as your ex-sub card functions the same way.
