Problems with Sky Box after cancellation

Having cancelled Sky TV because it simply wasn't being used much I now find that when I switch on the tv (which is still connected to the Sky box) I get a message saying "No Satellite Signal is being received". I thought that all the BBC and ITV channels were still available and that cancellation only eliminated the subscription channels.

Am I wrong? Is it a weather problem? Should the SKY card still be in the slot? Is there something else I am missing?

I have tried a signal strength test via the Services button on the handset and both signal strength and signal quality are blank.

Would be grateful for any advice please.

Many Thanks

Don't you need to leave the card in the slot? They just remove the subscription Ch capability.

There's no need for a card, it only gives you a few extra channels anyway. As above, try resetting the box.

My son has an old sky box that he uses without a card, no problems. All the card does is give you FIVER, FIVEUS and Sky 3.

Sounds like a dish/LNB problem to me.

we get this signal when the tv is on the wrong setting - for example there's a channel for the DVD, a channel for aerial transmissions and a sky receiving channel (or programme setting). HTH

Switch the Sky box off at the mains (or remove the mains cable from the back if easier). Leave for at least 30 seconds. Plug it back in and leave it on standby for at least 30 seconds. Power up using the remote.

(Might as well put the card in before you do this. It's not necessary, but it'll enable you to get a few extra channels such as Fiver and Sky 3).
