Sainsbury shrinks honey jars by 25%

Where is your maths? You pay for what you get, gram per gram, so in this case it is a 33% increase in price. And it IS sneaky. A lot of people who are too old or too naive, or not good at maths will pay that increase without realising.
That's deeply patronising. Any person with a normal grasp of arithmatic could work it out. It's deeply rude to claim that it's not reasonable to expect someone to be able to do these sort of sums.
Besides the supermarkets usually work out the price per Kg/gram for you to enable diligent shoppers to compare.0 -

I was going to say this. For example, on Sainsbury's tickets you can find the price per kilogram or 100 grams and so on underneath the price for the product on the label. Its not a con, just a different way of increasing the price.0 -
You can rely on Tescos not to over charge you... http://www.bitterwallet.com/tag/tesco-yellow-label0

Doesn't sound unreasonable, washing poweder is easier to compare on a per wash basis due to some being more concentrated than others.
I don't buy that people who go about not paying attention to details and instructions are blameless for slipping up. Yes some companies hide stuff in small print, but often people complain they are being conned when they haven't paid attention to the reasonably sized print.0 -
I haven't bought a bottle of Shloer since they put the price up 33% by changing from a 1L to 750mL bottle.sarahg1969 wrote: »Loyd Grosman sauces are smaller, as are Shloer and Cabury's Fingers. If you find something whose price hasn't gone up, you can almost guarantee that it's shrunk.0
