Do french swim shorts not have nets? I have caught sight of far more of a french friend that I really wanted to see.0

French municpal pools ban swim shorts so it's no surprise that holiday parks follow suit.
I was told it was for hygiene purposes but nobody ever seemed to be able to explain what was the hygiene problem with swim shorts.0 -
as far as I am aware, they mean actual shorts, not swimming shorts. I have been told that it is to make sure the pool stays clean,
ie no pockets full of sand
They also like you to shower before using the pool, and not to wear sunscreen as they do not use anywhere as much of the chemicals as we do.
The local pools here are loaded with chemicals, and it's not surprising after the stories I hear (two kids having been lifeguards ), so
you can wear 'normal' swimming shorts
and , the pool water will be nice and clean.
Enjoy your hols:D0 -
we were there year before last OH and DS wore swim shorts no prob. Fantastic park you'll have a great time - don't leave until you've had a 4 cheese pizza from the takeaway - heaven in an box!!0

Can't believe the French have engaged the fashion police for poolside wear. As these clothing items take up so little packing space would play it safe with one of each (Unless you look like the photo above, in which case you should be deported for over exposure)0

Thanks everyone for your help i feel alot more relaxed now. Sounds like worst case senario tight lycra shorts ! Anything but them hideos speedo trunk, pant weirdo, ball hugging things !!! There should be a rule that you are NOT allowed to wear them that would make more sense.0

We go to France every year and there's always a notice on the pool gate to say no shorts, no shoes round the pool area (you have to leave at the gate) and have a shower.
Whilst most don't bother about shorts we have been to a couple where the 'lifeguard' would not allow any kind of shorts even swimming ones so we had to go out to buy some. One would not even allow my daughter to wear a t shirt over her swimsuit! (which she prefers to sun cream!) so it seems like the man on patrol can dictate his own rules. The lifeguards always wear the smallest lycra trucks and biggest mirror sunglasses.0 -
We went to the South of France in May and the camp didn't allow loose swimming shorts. Only close fitting trunks were allowed. My son and OH weren't impressed but they wore the shorts type trunks but everyone else was wearing the same so they looked fine.0

Might go for a Borat thong instead !0
