If the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) have truly intervened then you will need to file a complaint with them and the Legal Complaints Office, if there is enough money left in the accounts to pay everyone then you may get your money back if not then you will either have to take out a civil action against the members of the firm or try and claim from the Solcitors Compensation Fund.
Is anyone else had their mortgage company withold or withdraw their mortgage offer?0 -
After much perseverance after nearly losing our house on what should have been a very straightforward sale I have actually got my fee back after heaps of complaints in writing and phone and email and sending photocopied evidence.:j0

You were willing to defend WH's actions earlier on and now the shoe is on the other foot, you are annoyed?! You knew what was going on this whole time and your concience never told you to report this before thousands of people were robbed and left homeless?!

I think the whole legal profession is badly in need of a shake up not just this particular firm. Most of the bad law firms get away with it because the profession in general has such a monopoly on a lot of legal work thanks to historical rights and laws.
The whole profession is due to change in the next year or so due to major changes in who can set themselves up in business. This competition should drive up standards as solicitors will then be forced to compete for business like the rest of us.
I think the introducing company has a lot to answer for. I used them and they gave me another law firm and their service was just as appalling and the person handling my file wasn't even a solicitor even though she told me in writing she was. When we eventually moved house I was sick for two weeks with the stress of how bad my conveyancing firm was. Next time I will go for the middle of the road price. Not too cheap and not too expensive.
The SRA couldn't care less and the solicitors are fighting like mad to keep the monopolies they have on their work as much as poss but the public nowadays will not put up with bad service anymore so law firms will have to change soon for the better whether they like it or not.0 -
Yet another unsatisfied customer I'm afraid having paid a £300 deposit and missed the completion date of 18th of Dec. I have now gone on to another solicitor and am more than happy to pay the extra few hundred pounds.
Can anyone give precise details of how I claim my deposit back? Will the credit card company assist at all?
My sincere comiserations to all who have big money outstanding to these people and or may lose the sale or purchase of their property.
Happy new year may not be the most appropriate thing to say but all the best anyway!0 -

If they had acted only a few days earlier then they would have been able to gain access to the premises! If the SRA are indeed carrying out a full intervention then the consequences for WH will be dire but we, as clients, will be protected as far as our files and money are concerned.
Has anyone been able to connect to the SRA website over the past couple of days? It seems to be down.0 -

You are quite right, something wrong there. Probably inundated with complaints.
