  • what does the LLP mean? is tat a new form of solicitor, or 'lawyer lite'.. ?
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)
  • OK, message to the solicitor people who keep posting on here - I promise to come back on here to tell people that you have completed our sale if only you do exchange tomorrow and complete this week. If you do give a good service I will tell - If you want to know which chain I am stuck in, get in touch (PM me) and I will tell you what you need to know to get it sorted out - if you do it will show that you really do want to sort things out. And I will tell people on here of my good experience - that is what I want to be able to do. Then, work through the complainers on here - PM them one at a time and sort out their cases too. I'm sure they will be happy to come back and tell us all that you have - wont you?

As I have been reading here, it looks as if the Brum office is closing but what about the Cheadle office? And why are they closing an office anyway? I called the complaints helpline and all they could tell me was they had informed them that they have been having problems with their phone lines and computers but didn't have any news if they were staying in or going out of biz..

Birmingham office closing this Friday and Cheadle office staying open for a few extra days to close cases on verge of completion (or more likely cash the money) and transfer other cases onto other solicitor firms. The head office will then close.

Everyone in the industry knows this is what is happening. Do not give them any money. The last thing you need is them having your money when the finally close down.

Be interested where you got the info. Completed a purchase with the Cheadle office a few weeks ago but still waiting for final paperwork and their telephone line is dead. Reading this thread yesterday I have filed a complaint with the Legal Complaints Service

  • Hi everyone,

Just to give you all an update - Wolsten Holmes Solicitors Conveyencing has been closed down as of yesterday.

I also paid them the £300 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing. I have been trying to call all of their office numbers for days and not one person picked the phone up. The only time I got a response was when I emailed the solicitor with a read receipt copying the director in and told him to call me in the next hour or I will take legal action. I got a call within 10 minutes last night and thats when he told me they will no longer be trading for conveyencing! I am supposed to get my money back in 5 days but that doesn't look likely!!

If anyone having the same probs please let me know:

    Thanks
  • Well, too late for us. Becuase of this solicitor firm not doing what they have been paid for, our buyers have decided enough is enough and pulled out. Our chain has collapsed and 7 different households are now back to square one, several days after our supposed completion date and thousands of pounds down. Emotionally, I don't know how we move forward. This is real lives they are playing with. I can't contemplate how to move forward - this was our forever home. We were virtually there. We had so much invested in it. I can't believe they can do this to us. We're devastated.

I'm so sorry to hear this, I hope there's some recourse for you and maybe not all is lost. I was lucky I cancelled them when I did but I've watched this forum closely to see how others in a similar boat were getting along and hopefully warn them off if they had time to change.

I wonder would cheekybets or adam1234.. or the other Wolstenholmes employee posters that had the audacity and cheek to come on here posting crap like to respond to this persons post and the anguish and pain you've put 7 families through on this one case alone. It's terrifying to think how many other christmas's you've ruined that we don't know about.

Wolstenholmes should be financially responsible if they're the cause of a chain falling through. It's absolutely criminal what they're up to:mad::mad::mad:
  • Been there got the tee-shirt for a solicitors going into Administration.

As long as the partners were not stealing from the Client account all Client monies will be safe. It may take some time to get the monies from the Law Society but you will get it - eventually - after you have jumped through The LawSociety hoops!!
