The car park was packed and the shop was full of mum's with buggies who kept blocking the isles. I ended up just buying a tea bag holder/plate thingy for someone for christmas (Born to shop range-they have lots of fab kitchen-y things there). Was really hoping to find the scissors I bought last year. They were £1.49 for a set of 3 and they were patterned. The ones I have are pink with butterflies on and they cut really well, so I wanted to buy some more. The lady on the till thought they'd probably get some closer to Christmas. Don't they understand I wanted to have my xmas finished by now???
Anyway, the whole point of my post was to tell you that they have some lovely christmas fleece throws for £3.99. Quite a few designs-suitable for both kids and adults. They looked really cute. Also a cupcake shaped cookie jar. I think it was £5.99.
I work in Dunelm. the scissors are prromotional and we have no choice as to when we get them. they are usually around the till areas. we are on phase 2 of our christmas stock so only one (or two in some stores) more lots of xmas stock to come in. I work in the Ipswich branch. the car park there is unreal! i dont park there on the weekends i work as it can take an hour to get out again!!
oh for anyone thats interested we have xmas fabric and wipeclean table cloth!0 -
Princess Woo I love your framed pictures. They are very effective. I am wanting to get my dd to make christmas cards this year with her handprint on them. (She is Lily too but a bit bigger, she is 6) Your Lily is adorable. Congratulations.
I found this forum about a month ago, took about a week to read it, them my pc broke and by the time I got on line again, it has taken me another week plus to catch up again.
I love all your ideas, plan to steal, I mean borrow quite a lot of them, hope you don't mind.
You are all very clever and talented.

Planning and Getting Organised for Christmas 2009

Last Christmas we didn't have much money, but I didn't want it to affect my little boy. He did his list to Santa and in November I started phoning Toys r Us weekly to see if they had pending offers. At the end of November they had a weekend promotion of 2for1's on the things we needed. I went on Friday evening when the store was almost empty and stress free, and stuck rigidly to the list, aiming to get a complete set rather than 'bits'. The trolley was full and the total £70. I bought two of everything and sold the second item of everything figuring if my son wanted it then it would be popular with other children the same age. The total in sales came to £95 making a profit of £15. I don't know if we were just very lucky but it was a godsend. I really think not panicking and sticking to the list helped.
This year, I have found an absolute gem of site - Jamie Sale at custom cartoons uk. The quality of the artwork is second to none as is the customer service. The prices are cheap I think double portraits are currently £20. Even better though the framed copies are really cheap so one portrait can literally become a present for several adults in the family. Everyone who has seen them so far has been absolutely overjoyed by them.
Hope this is helpful0 -
Today in Boots I saw "cupcakes" made with flannels and a lipgloss in the middle for the cherry. Nice but nothing on the ones I have seen here especially from Giggle. In my head they were £4.50 but when I checked the book once home they were £3.50 so maybe I was mistaken.:xmassmileExcited about Christmas 2009:xmassmile

im seeing a lot of new names here, hello all :santa2: welcome to the thread
thanks everyone for the toffee reccomendations i will check all out
princesswoo i love them handprint pictures i may pinch that one for the kids grandparents
got some bad news today, dh's work are making 1 person redundant from their warehouse. there is only 2 people who work in there; dh and his best mate!
so either dh loses his job and we are skint or his mate does and it will cause friction between the two!
but the odds are stacked against dh as he's been there less than a year whereas his mate has been there over 5 years and they would have to pay him a redunduncy!
we will find out at the end of the month so for this month i have to rein my belt in and try not to spend  until we're sure!
my month may be spent tackling my matchbox advent calender, which, like princesswoo has also been sat unfinished for a few months!:p
i do also want to do some canvas pictures as fil has just bought me a nail gun (bit of a random gift to get off your father in law, but ive wanted one for ages!). my plan is to try and scrounge some old fabric off someone or try to find a shop that has fabric offcuts and nailgun it to a canvas. then i am going to sew shiny/sparkly beads to the fabric, picking out bits of the pattern. these will be extras for xmas presents, maybe for my mum and nannas. i already have the canvasses and beads so these will be pretty cheap!
i do want to get some fabric with big fairies on so i can do some pics for dd too and sew beads on the wings.
on a plus note i did manage to pick up a boots catologue today :T so that will keep me entertained for quite a while! i love the boots book!0 -
you haven't told me that hon when did that happen? when would the redundancy be happening?
debating whether i've got enough energy to sort the christmas cupboard tonight or if its a weekend jobbie...
Boots 1st OOTW starts on friday:D! Its the sanctuary set have you seen it?x0 -

its all happened today the big bosses from germany have flown in and told them! redunduncy will be end of the month.
the kids r sorted for xmas so not too bothered about everyone else - except you of coursebut only cos i want to know what you got me!!!!
haha. its just the holiday im worried about, cos theres only so much stuff i can stick on ebay to get some spending money! although the holiday its self is paid off so thats a good thing i suppose!
SORT THE CUPBOARD OUT seriously you need to know whats in there! madam will end up with two of everything! and write a list so you can tell me what you find
what does OOTW mean? which set was it? i said to my mam one of the sanctuary set will be going in it was it the expensive one?
btw you broke my santa tray  god job i love ya!0 -
Hi everyone!
The end is in sight for me!! Ha ha. Driving OH mad dragging him round shops looking for anything I can use for pressies but it has paid off!
We went to Lincoln today and I picked up a fab Dalek model book for my nephew for £4.99 in the Works - had been £12.99! Also I've decided against a box/basket for mum and sis's pink smellies hampers, simply given the fact they have to be transported back up North with all the other presents plus our overnight luggage and the boot of our car (its only a Yaris so we have very limited space) is not big enough for everything.
But I found two amazing black and pink present bags of a generous size in Primark for a quid each, and I got some pink tissue paper as well so Im sure it will look just as nice!
Im going on an Xmas shopping trip with my mate next month so going to finish off the last few bits then, and buying OH's pressies in December when the other ones have gone home. It feels weird this Xmas - after going so mad last Xmas I've had to be really strict with myself this Xmas - Im usually terrible for buying little bits I think people will like but Im determined not to do that this year.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Serves you right for filling my car with carp!I'll keep my eyes peeled at b&m near me.
I better get my pressie or i'm keeping yours!Actually, it's a great pressie anyway so I could just keep it anyway and enjoy it myself...
You'll always find some junk in your house to sell on ebay- you best start dooyoo-ing again! But you said the other week that they were after getting rid of t'other Mark anyways wasn't they? might be a good excuse!
OOTW = offer of the week- thought you was a proper bootser?!It's the £35 sanctuary gift set- so tempted to buy it even though I don't relly like it or need it- but it's a bargain!!!0 -
I really need to start buying presents. I've got the cards and things I'm making pretty much sorted but I'm nowhere near with the things I'm buying as I havent even started yet.0
