    What books?

Take a minimum of 5 old books to ikea customer services and they will give you a £5 voucher to spend instore.

Supposed to be one voucher per customer/household/transaction but it seems some people have been getting multiple vouchers. You have to sign a sheet I suppose agreeing to their conditions and the voucher has to have name address and postcode entered on it.

NB: The voucher applies to Cardiff which is a franchise, Ikea run stores giving a £5 gift card.

My local 99p Store has started putting it's Christmas stuff out. I bought a box of 6 crackers - I really liked them as they are square instead of round (if you see what I mean). The fillings are almost certainly rubbish, but there's only two of us for Chrimbo and so I plan to fill two with something really nice.

I've never made my own, but can't imagine I'd get 6 hats, snaps and all the paper for under £1!

Aside from a few pressies, this is my first Xmas purchase, although next week I'm hitting some craft shops to start making things.
Ive had those crackers before (white with silver detail?) They're pretty good. :)
Just gotta go to Ikea and get some rolls of brown parcel paper. I use it as wrapping paper and then just write a message on it with gold pen. looks quite classy imo.
    That does sound lovely! :)

I received my brothers gaydar keyring today, he's gonna love it. :rotfl: I sooooo wish i had the money to finish my xmas shopping, so frustrating knowing exactly what you want to buy and not being able to buy it!
I was stuck on presents for my stepdad/nan but have sorted that now. My mum said my stepdad would love a driving experience so we all might chip in for that and I'm going to ask my sisters or brothers if they want to go half with me on a yearly take a break mag subscription for my nan. :) Still stuck on mil though. I wish I could afford a satnav for her as thats all i can think of that she'd really love!

What ages are the brats? I think that is behaviour that has been learnt from the parents.

The only solution for delightful kids like this is to give them something educational - something like a book token. (£5 should be fine or maybe 10? )

If your sister hints you are being stingy, you will just have to explain that you are short of money for luxuries at the moment, and that you have so much trouble getting the children anything they like that you think it would be best if they chose for themselves. Also you could say:

that you always loved to get book tokens yourself as a child (Ok, hands up, it was true for me.....) and what a shame it is that kids don't spend more of their free time reading.

Both of my sisters do the cash limit thing all the time - in fact we now have a pact that we don't spend more than a tenner on the children, and nothing on the adults for Christmas. (in practice I sometimes spend a bit more tha 10 on the kids if I see something like a £12.99 DVD I know they'd love, but these guys of yours don't seem to be like that do they?)
Howver we three are actually all broke ...I don't know if this is true for you.

:mad::mad: I'd tell her that I wouldn't be buying anymore presents as they're clearly not good enough or appreciated, so instead of hassling yourself trying to find something that passes her materialistic test I'd either spend the money treating myself, or I'd donate it to charity in their name as there's kids out there who who clearly appreciate the toys more than them. What a blooming cheek! They obviously get their attitude from their mam too, if I was ever cheeky enough to say something as ungrateful as that I would've got a smack round the lughole :rotfl:
