I am having huge probs with him turning 16, he has decided he is now a man and is entitled to everything that is without a part time job because he can't find the time to get one with all the weekend football matches he goes to do, so it is demanding for free, any money he does get is free of bills and throw away money for his xbox games or whatever so he is loosing the value, he needs to get off his butt and get a job:D[/QUOTE
ds didn't have a job until this summer - he applied online to MacDonalds and got the job. He likes the money but finds the job boring (welcome to the real world!) Ds had to juggle the job because he plays cricket - but has managed alright so far.
what is he doing next year? my son struggled because he was not entitled to ema...but most of his mates were. I was so glad when he got the job....but I am still paying for his driving lessons.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

I have spent a maximum of £5 per person or couple except for DS. I've been buying things in the sales throughout the year so it doesn't look like I've only spent £5 iyswim.how much cash are you giving to your DS 17? It is just that mine turned 16 this year and is demanding:rotfl: money for xmas as well as wrapped presents:rolleyes: I said up to £100 is fair enough and he goes on and on that so and so gets £500 that £100 is only 2 xbox games and a bit of change that it gets nothing etc:rolleyes: ungrateful 'They only had one cow!'0 -
wannabepennypincher wrote: »Bought my very first present today! Got a little disheartened as my nephew and oldest niece were being complete brats about the presents I got him for his birthday as I put together some £3 DVDs and a helicopter and lifeboat from asda that were about £6 and my sister stuck up for them by saying they knew that they were cheap on there own and she usually got them things like when she went shopping and they normally got a really big toy for birthdays. He also refused to even look at the cake I made him as his mum already "got one she paid for" so the hampers I had planned for them with a gingerbread house and homemade sweets is now a tenner in a card x3 (oldest niece, nephew and sister).
However I did go shopping in Tesco and found loads of goodies they are selling half price so glad I went. I got a playdoh kit for my brothers daughter- it's a lovely little plastic tub with cutters and shapes and of course playdoh. It was only a fiver reduced from a tenner and I'm going to add some other stuff to the box like an apron and some sort of protection sheet thing for the carpets. I should be OK with her as she was perfectly happy with homemade playdoh and 3 shapes so fingers crossed she likes it.
Im sure your niece will love her playdough!'They only had one cow!'0 -
Just gotta go to Ikea and get some rolls of brown parcel paper. I use it as wrapping paper and then just write a message on it with gold pen. looks quite classy imo.0

My local 99p Store has started putting it's Christmas stuff out. I bought a box of 6 crackers - I really liked them as they are square instead of round (if you see what I mean). The fillings are almost certainly rubbish, but there's only two of us for Chrimbo and so I plan to fill two with something really nice.
I've never made my own, but can't imagine I'd get 6 hats, snaps and all the paper for under £1!
Aside from a few pressies, this is my first Xmas purchase, although next week I'm hitting some craft shops to start making things.0
