Casseroles and soup. Congratulations on the imminent arrival.
I too am pregnant and am now 2 days overdue!!
I have a full freezer but not done any cooking as i prefer to just chuck stuff in the slow cooker and leave it on all day !!
Good luck:beer: Officially Debt Free Nov 2012 :beer:0 -
Congratulations on your forthcoming arrival :j
depends what your normal meals are, most things freeze ok (think there may be something about cream)
Beef stew/casserole/goulash
shepherds pie
lasagne
bolognese sauce
Fish pie
meatballs/ meatloaf
chilli
curry, chick/veg
Have plenty of frozen veg, saves shopping and doesn't lose its vitamins unlike fresh. You can also par boil potatoes (10mins) cover in oil, flash freeze (place on baking tray in freezer) then bag when frozen. when roasties needed put in oven from frozen for 20mins longer than normal
Remember there are also quick cook meals with store cupboard ingredients, pasta/pesto & garlic bread, cous cous is lovely and quick with m/waved salmon @ veg

Be cheeky!
Stress to your friends what a great idea that would be .......... and how much you love their X, Y or whatever is their speciality.
Maybe they will pop around with a couple of dishes.
Actually this is not as cheeky as it sounds - we have a single chest freezer that used to spend its times doing the rounds to about 8 of my pregnant friends (thankfully we all produced at different times)
In the last couple of months we would all cook extra and pop it in the "pregnant freezer" - meant that our mates had a good couple of months meals already done before the baby was born - cushioning the crappy SMP dip in income too.
Good luck on the baby, BTW - and pretty much everything cooked can be frozen.

You could suggest to family/friends instead of bringing baby gift that they bring a meal instead? With any luck they will bring a meal and a cute little baby outfit! (I mean who can resist?)0

Hi, This might sound like a silly question and I guess you have already looked. But do you need to buy everything to make the lists above.
Can you make meals from food you have already got? Just a thought to save a few pennies.
Good luck for the new arrival, btw0 -
Just wanted to second the "frozen veg" suggestion. I thought I was really organised filling the freezer with various meals ready for when baby arrived, but it was such a pain to have to go out and shop for bread, milk, veg etc.0

Hello,
I am not sure if there is a thread that already exists with this information if so can you point me in the right direction please.
I have decided that I need to start bulk cooking, we are due to have the children for 3 evenings a week and as WFH I need to be able to get meals out of the freezer on these nights. Can anyone advise some good meals that would feed two adults and three children (well one of them eats adult portions). I have an upright freezer in the garage which I can make use of, so I would like to start batch cooking. I don't eat beef or lamb however happy to cook meals which include this for the others. I am happy to make recipes (start from scratch) rather than buy ready made meals.
Any ideas/recipes would be appreciated. x0
