My seed trasys watered, but nothing showing yet.
Nice and sunny here this afternoon, but a wet morning.
Lawns were cut yesterday at a high level to tidy them up, and let them breath.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Weather wasn't great today so all I've done is sown my runner beans. .
Gosh - that's early. Which part of the country are you in? I don't normally sow mine until May as I can't plant them outside until June because they hate the cold nights.0 -
We've had a fairly productive weekend
Early carrots are in with a selection of cut off squash bottles keeping them covered. Potatoes are chitting away on the window cil along with the trays of beetroot and lettuce seeds. Chilis are finally germinating so we've moved them on to the cil too and have popped the sweetcorn into the propagator.
Had a good clear out of pots and have re-potted lots of the herbs... have created a mini rockery to raise them up a bit and keep them out of the firing line of the dog!
Managed to make about 6kg of wedding cake over the weekend too... 12 days until big day and not sure whether should be worried or not that I seem to be doing more planning for the garden at the mo than for the wedding!!

I was wondering about the runners too Dustykitten.
I hope to be sowing some broad beans and peas today. I should have cleaned enough pots to pot up my toms and peppers, and have some coir pots as back up if I run out! I have had the compost warming on the heat-mat overnight, so the plants won't get too much of a shock when I pot them up. Really pleased how organized I am this year...usually don't get things sorted until April!!
We had a frost last night (again), but my tender stuff is back in the greenhouse and fleeced, so they should be OK. Going to check them soon.
Have a great day everyone.

Please folks, unless you're down in the mild south west, don't go crazy now about sowing many of your vegetable seeds either outdoors, or even indoors, just nyet as for most of us, it's still too early, despite what it says on the packet.
Tomatoes, sweet corn, French or runner beans, and courgettes, really should wait until mid April, even if you're sowing them indoors because they risk growing to the point when they're becoming leggy with the indoor temperatures but it will still be too cold outdoors for them to make a successful transition when they're planted outside. I know it's tempting to get going if we have a couple of sunny days, but it's really better to wait a little.
Peppers, Aubergines & Chillis can be sown indoors now as they need a long growing season. One way of coping with leggy seedlings is to plant them on more deeply in bigger pots with the bottom leaves almost level with the compost. However, even this often won't ensure nthat your plants will end up being as healthy or cropping as well as later sown ones, and you can only do this if you have a limited number of seedlings to transplant.0 -
Planted the sweetcorn, saturday afternoon so has only been in a day or so... will it ruin the seeds if we dig them up and then re-plant in a month or so?

It will give you a guide for your area, but always make a judgment based on the current weather, my last frost date is late April but it has snowed in May before,or the ground is still very wet and cold (rots seeds) so always keep an eye on a long term weather report and save a few seeds to sow in case you get caught out.

Thank you so much for that helpful advice.
My last frost expected is MAY:eek: so it has certainly made me think twice about sowing the tomatoes I was going to do this week!.
I'm glad you posted those links as I remembered using that site last year but I hadn't saved it & I was only thinking about it the other day.:)0
