27th Dec. Aldi are selling a Tevion 27" LCD TV with three year swap out warranty for £599.
No match on price anywhere as yet but it could be the start.

And Aldi have a sale from 27/12/04 laptop reduced from £999 to £799,The best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten0

The price of these techno goodies is going off a cliff, and will get lower, much lower. Who can remember when only before the Euro footie a 40" gas plasma cost you 3k +, and now?
But FWIW I don't think cheaper LCD is the best picture quality for continuous tone TV

For the cost of a cheapo LCD you can get a top of the range 32" CRT TV such as the Philips 32PW9509.
The only disadvantage of them is the weight and size.0 -
alanrowell: Thats a rather pointless statement of fact.
Equally for the price of a 42" plasma I could buy a projector for up to 60", but they're very different pieces of equipment. Or a 28" CRT for £129 from Lidl.
£599 for this is a very good price, but I should think they'll only have less than 6 per store and needless to say they'll sell out in first 2-3hrs.0 -
Whilst it's Christmas, I'd look at this offer the same way as I'd look at buying Aldi own brand vodka versus, say, Smirnoff.
The no brand stuff will have a similar effect to the Smirnoff , but will leave you with a bad hangover and wondering why you didn't just pay a little more for some quality.
With things like LCDs and Plasma's, you get what you pay for. Picture and build quality will be far inferior on cheaper models. Tiny's offer has been around for so long because everyone knows their 'great' offer aint so hot.
Do some research before making a purchase of this kind would be my advice.0 -

Wish I could afford one. Next year I will be buying one to replace my 8 years old 28" 4.3. The reason why I wont buy a 28" widescreen is size It wont fit in the same place the old tv was due to it being longer in length. Only a 24" widescreen would fit and I prefer a larger screen if possible. So a 27" low profile LCD would fit that perfect.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
No it isn't, most people when they get an LCD TV put it in exactly the same place as the old TV, therefore why buy an average LCD screen when for a similar price you could buy an extremely good CRT TV.
ah but you cant pose with a normal CRT.
Anyway three year warranty worth around £200 and Tevion is Medion.
Just because you have never heard the make does not mean its rubbish. Just look in the HI-FI circuit there are plenty of names you would not know and the prices of them are sky high. No comparison to tevion though they are I would say UK's answer to Goodmans.0 -

BTW why do the Germans refer to screen size in inches?0
