Nokia 5800 - text & ringtones

Hi - can anyone help with the following please as been offered a retention deal of £18 pm for 18 months, 500 calls, unlimited texts and unlimited web access/data and the phone they recommend is Nokia 5800. Have had a look on forum and google but cant find the answer to the following:
  1. Not had a touch screen phone before - is the glass/cover fairly sturdy or do you have to be very careful with it? (I have seen the shields you can get to reduce scratching etc but need to know if the screen will crack easily etc).
  2. Can you customise individual ringtones for text messages? e.g. just now I have various ringtones for different people but current phone can only have one generic text tone so I cant tell who's texting me until I view pic/name on phone - old phone from a few years back allowed different phone call and text message ringtones for different contacts.
  3. Can I add any ringtones (from free websites etc) and my own songs (from cd's converted into mp3) onto this phone? Current one allows this but have heard in the past some phones only allow certain mp3 or video clips etc to be used on them.
Any help appreciated as I really need a phone where I can have individual ringtones for people for calls and texts as I get loads of work and personal ones and handy to know before checking phone picture who's texting/calling etc.

Sorry, cannot help with your question but would love to know which operator offered you this retention deal as I cannot get anywhere near this with O2 at the moment.

    1. My friends seems good
    2. I would assume so I thought that was standard on all newer Nokia handsets
    3. Yes it supports MP3 ringtones and has a card slot (probably comes with a card too)

Sorry it was £22 per month, not £18 but still seems good :)
Also on second call they said it is 250 mins not 500, but the 500 is available for extra £3 per month. Its with Virgin and seems to be the same rates as on their website: http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/payMonthlyTariffs.do

Can I ask is it normal for sales people to be able to bend or alter the deals? I am wondering if I can push for cheaper price for 18 month tie-in or if they will do this deal on 12 months as I dont want to tie-in to near £800 for the 18 months incase we dont use the internet/phones as much as we think we may (its two phones btw)

Hi, I asked before if you can customise individual text alerts (not ringing tone) on these phones and was told yes - i've now got the phones but cant for the life of me work out how to do this - can someone talk me through it please? Its not mentioned in the manual and in the persons contact screen it only mentions image, phone ringing tone etc and nothing about text alert - this is not mentioned in manual either. Can someone show me what to do as I really need this feature and right now have a phone thats not much use to me as I need individual text alert tones for people and just now have one tone for everyone who sends a text. Thanks again

I have a Motorola V9 that does exactly what you want, I have a ringtone for an individual call & a different tone for a text message from the same person, I am looking for a new phone but want the same facility....Samsung dont do it, Im trying a LG Cookie but that doesn't do it....Hope this helps a little.
