Septemberbasically the stuff that's expensive in restaurants over here (tho i'm not sure what prime rib is or whether it's usually expensive!)The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

October , NovemberIt's rib of beef, but in the buffets it's pants, even Wynn and Bellagio. U.S. beef is fed hormones as a slow release vial inserted behind the ear so that they grow big. IMHO that makes them less tasty, certainly not on par with a Scottish reared Aberdeen Angus. big is not always best, that's why if I wanted beef in America I only eat Fillet Mignon, tried all the 21 day old stuff at CC and Austins (a couple of the best reputations in Vegas) and found it wanting on both occasions. As an aside, you can not buy U.S. beef in this country because of the hormone injections
OMG!!! I didn't realise that about the meat. 25 years ago when I was in Denver for work, I was well impressed that the steak I bought in the supermarket didn't get smaller when it was cooked. I initially thought it was because we allow water injections, and that fulfilled my curiosity to be honest. I obviously needed to look into it more.0 -

Off topic but the best steaks we've ever had have been from Donald Russell, who are indeed in Scotland. You can buy them on the net and have them shipped to your house - bit pricey but they are delicious if you cook them properly !0 -

) therefore i have quite a good understanding of the beef in america and it's added goodness'
it's probably best i don't tell you the other bonus bits you'll be sinking your teeth into over the pondthe standards of meat in this country are so high compared to so many other countries but we always seem to take the wrap for stuff
really angers me!!!
on an similar note, i forgot to mention that the missus doesn't eat beef at all - doesn't like it etc BUT since eating it at Vegas buffet, she now loves New York Strip Steak when we're over the pond, and i've even cooked it her at home and it's the only one she'll touch
(don't know why that's important or whether it matters in any sense! but her whole family are just as amazed as me that she actually eats the stuff! - incidently, she certainly doesn't like it just cos she had it at a buffet, but just because it gave her a chance to try it (even if i did have to force it down her throat cos it was so tasty!))

I have no agricultural background (other than growing up in an area surrounded by farms but never having anything to do with them personally) But I've read Fast Food Nation and the slaugherhouse section alone put me off beef in any country for a good while. Over it now though...must never read the book again to be safe.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Yeah, we might get taken to task by crabman et all and throw our toys out of the pram like some other board did. (Only joking crabman;))
Back to the topic at hand, only 9 more weeks to go, and looking forward to the temps still being in the high 80's.
I was visiting another board and it seems to be the consensus that if a casino's pool has gaming, then they have to let you in, still trying to get Encore to confirm this for September so i don't have to flash my old room key:DThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Has anyone been to Las Vegas with children? Does it work? Do the hotels offer any type of childcare/clubs so that the adults can go to the casino?
Thanks0 -
From what I have been told from friends there aren't many facilities to leave children so you can go to the casino. You might have to do it in shifts!
This link has some recommendations for child friendly hotels, there will always be something for you to do as a family.
