Oh yeah, went to see "Defending the Caveman" at the Excalibur when I was there...
"Hit Comedy" they billed it as. They missed off the "S".

On the plus side it was only $24 and got a free T-shirt :)

Hi I am going to Vegas for my 50th so need to be there for the 16/9/2010, when should we book there are about 8 of us so dont know when we might get the best deals. any advice would be great
    thanks

hard to say , but there is nothing to lose by booking something now , and providing you can cancel without penalty ( which is the norm booking direct) , taking advantage of something better when it comes along . i always like to have a "Fall back" booking in place early on , cause you never know what event ( like a big fight for example ) might come along .

you should step up your searching on the links in post 1 about 12 weeks out , as that tends to be the when some good deals come out .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

ferf - Thanks for trip report, enjoyed reading it... just quickly - you mentioned the Heathrow Express, how was it? is it a struggle with luggage? contemplating it next time round to avoid parking charges

Hi! No, it was absolutely fine...I had one large case (with the 4 wheels so you can push it along with little effort) but also had a small carry-on sized regular 2-wheeled case too...and my shoulder bag, which is not insignificant :) ...and it was fine on my own (my husband met me at the hotel). There are no stairs to deal with at Paddington (unless you come by tube) nor are there stairs to deal with at LHR. Getting TO work with the cases - that was another story...hauling all that crap up stairs at the tube station is something I do not wish to do very often.

And I think it will take more than one 'eh' trip for us to give up on Vegas even for awhile. We'll see how it goes next trip - I am resisting booking another trip in the fall until we get back...just in case we feel the same again. I wouldn't know where to go on holiday if we didn't have Vegas...quite certain we'd be disappointed in almost anywhere else (other than Australia). :)

Goldfish 2 is basically like the original but fancier and some slightly different bonus rounds - it's fun. There's also a big, multi-player version with progressives to be won, but when I looked at it I think you had to be playing max credits to qualify for the progressives so I gave it a miss...they had the multi-player one at Bellagio.

ferf, loved the TR. Must say that I empathised with your view of being "over it". If you remember earlier when we came back from our last trip I said the same thing, this was despite staying at the fabulous Four Seasons. Maybe it was the mess that Vegas is in at the moment, unfinished City Centre, derelict building sites, !!!!!! slappers everywhere, dust from the building works, road works absolutely everywhere, and service just going down the tubes. We have been going 3-4 times a year for the past 6 years and never felt so uninterested in going back again after September. Our next trip isn't until May so hopefully mid strip will be cleaned up by then. unless something comes up like a nice £300 air flight we are resisting it till May. Even going to Florida in January because the cold in Vegas ruins the enjoyment for Tracy getting dolled up in the evenings.

Maybe some of those things did contribute, though we didn't consciously notice them too much - other than the road works, that was a PITA, to be sure. Mostly I think that we've been so many times now that maybe it's shine is wearing off...but as we do spend a lot of our time playing the slots, I'm quite certain losing fairly consistently most of the trip didn't help. :) Shame you guys are going in May as we'll miss you again.

Adult/Child baggage allowance - Two pieces of luggage per passenger, each weighing up to 23kg (50lbs). When added together, the three dimensions of any piece of luggage must not exceed 158cm (62in).

This is on my booking confirmation. I thought it had gone down to one bag?

It's funny to read that others are a bit fed up or disillusioned with Vegas. I felt a bit like that after our September trip, like I wasn't too fussed if we went back. However I think the reason was that we went back too quick after our May trip. It was just a bit too soon, especially with going for 14 nights each time.

We normally go May and November which is a nice 6 month break. I had booked the September trip as soon as we got back, but before I got the urge to return.

However I'm sure our May trip will be fine as it will be 8 months since we'll have been.

The next trip is for my major birthday and there really isn't anywhere in the world that I'd rather celebrate it.

Like ferf, I really don't know where else we could go and enjoy as much as Vegas. We do have other trips at New Year to Spain, but they are completely different and serve a different purpose.

We have now changed our check-in baggage policy to a 'Piece System' across the entire network for all tickets booked from 25 November 2009.

Yes I was sure that it went down to 1 bag with Virgin from November. However you have it in black and white so I would make sure you take that with you.

You could always call them up and query it.

    Are you travelling Premium?

When you do the online check in, a page comes up asking how many bags you have, and tells you how much you need to pay.
