oh and be careful with the monorail, what they dont tell you is that the stops are all a long walking way from the casino floor, we worked out if more than 3 of us was better to get a taxi0

SeptemberThanks for the trip report ratkarth, loved the detail.
I was surprised you found the MGM buffet better than MB as we have always preferred MB although it's a while since we ate there. Will be trying it again next weekend as I'm not keen on spending $50pp for breakfast at the Verandah.
Agree with MAG, I usually have my birthday dinner there and I'm hoping that's where hubby chooses for his birthday in 2 weeks time.
I was surprised to see that wine was included in the pre-show dinners at Switch and Mix. We had the Prix Fixe menu at Switch which was $59pp, but didn't include wine. Is it a glass per person? I always find wine to be expensive in Vegas.0 -
I'm confused - what airlines book that far in advance where you could get a quote (you said before you were looking at next year so you're looking at December 2010 I think)? Personally I would wait until early next year to actually look to even think about booking anything. That's probably the cheapest time of year for Vegas hotels too
Hi,
I Booked it yesterday. It's for December this year not next.We both decided the Mirage looks decent. Ended up paying 700 each on expedia. Tried several travel agents and they were way off the mark at about 850 for the luxor!! So all booked now!!
Thanks0 -
SeptemberThe Mirage now charges daily $15 resort fee which you will probably have added to your account when you check out. Can't remember if I posted about it before, but this is what it includes:
* Complimentary admission for two to the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat per stay (passes given at check-in)
* Daily newspaper available for pick-up at the Impulse Store and the Bell Desk
* Daily bottled water delivery (two bottles per day)
* Daily admission to the cardio room (does not include spa or fitness center)
* Two robes provided during stay
* Complimentary printing of boarding passes at the business center or concierge
* Complimentary notary services at business center
* Unlimited local and toll-free calls
* Free copies and faxes (up to the first 5 pages) at the business center (excluding color and large print jobs)0 -
Off on our grand tour tomorrow, including 4 nights in Vegas.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all their help/advise, it's really made a difference to me - a first time vegas visitor. Ratkarth, your trip report was great, will def try to seeing the duelling pianos and I'm looking forward to the Palazzo more than ever. We also have Killers tickets and Cirque 'o' tickets so looking forward to that too. Just need to try and get some sleep tonight! - fat chance....
woooo-hooooooo!!!!!! :j
ps does anyone know where is good for drinking reasonably cheaply - other than the free drinks at casinos?0 -
SeptemberCheap drinks at Casino Royale, $1 Michelobs and Margaritas, 99c Margaritas at Bills' and I think their beer is cheap too. O'Shea's had $2 beers and Ellis Island which is off strip about 10-15 mins walk behind Bally's.
None of these places are lounges. You have to stand and drink or sit at a machine.0 -
SeptemberPS There are at least 4 of us on here going to see The Killers! I hope they acknowledge the UK crowd!0

cheers Luci  i'm never averse to standing for a cheap drink!!!!
Hope you have a great time at the gig!0 -

for switch it was a glass of champagne each
for mix it was a glass of white and a glass of red each to mach the food. food was amazing at mix basicly it comes out on a tray with 6 small courses. think it was
shrimp salad, tuna tatar, beef steak, lamb, stuffed peppers and tiramasou.
i thought it was very good value but gf didnt feel was enough food for her0 -
October , Novemberratkarth - thanks for the trip report - it was great with all the detail. Hope the GF is feeling OK and how exciting for you to have a little one on the way!
As for the monorail, yes, the distance to some of the stations (noteably MGM and Bally's) can be a bit of a downer and the cost too for two people or more. We do occasionally take it down to MGM (usually cobbling together the fare from all the coins we normally bring back home!) but since they killed the 10-ride ticket it's definately not decent value for money in a lot of cases. I do still like it in a few cases though.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
