Hi, didn't want to start another ESA thread, so apologies for highjacking this one.

I was wondering, has anyone ever bi passed the medical and been awarded the benefit, just by filling in the form at the first stage?

I've just got a date through for my medical and am very anxious (sp?)

It appears to be very unlikely that you will bypass the medical.
I had my medical last Friday. It was very stressful. My advice is to take someone with you. Think carefully how your condition affects you.

Im awaiting the outcome of my medical. I hope you get ok with you.
    Best wishes

Hi Molly41, thanks for the reply, if you're ok to share, can you tell me what exactly was involved (I suffer from depression)

Do they let you read anything that they write about you?

Have you been told how long before you get the decision?

I'm *very*confused by the whole ESA process.

I've got a work focussed interview next week and someone from jobcentre is ringing me tomo about this. I received a letter yesterday though saying that i had been placed in the "support group".

I've not had a medical yet. I have sent in docs certs though and filled in that massive medical form. I guess if they want another cert they will ask? I work from home 13 hrs per week under permitted work and have filled a form in for this as well.

I guess from info i've seen, i'll go for my interview and that will be it for 3 years then? Unless they decide i have got to go for a medical still. The job centre didn't really seem to know the process either. It's all soo confusing!! But I guess they have all my info and they should know what they are doing!! I've haven't told any porkies - so i'm not going to worry about it.

Sorry for hijacking BTW but hope its useful ?

    Hi,
Jess - My medical was based on a physical condition although I do have depression as a result. I read a lot of info re the esa medical on benefitsand work.co.uk. It gives a step by step approach and I felt it prepared me for questions. You do need to subscribe for year - 18 pounds but well worth it (in my opinion). Your questions might be different.
Babyhead - if you are in support group well done. You shouldn't have to have any wfi or medicals. You are very rare - not many people get into it. Check it out tomorrow when they phone.

i was told 4 weeks for a decsion

    Lots of luck,
    Molly

Do most of those people incapable of doing 'no work' at all work for the DWP and Jobcenters (or failing that become MP's)? Certainly seems that way from my experience...
Yeah, but at least they can spell Jobcentre correctly.

I doubt the person that wrote that ad actually works in a Jobcentre.

    IMO that's good to hear.

The only problem is that the appeals will start to stack up.

I wonder if with many other types of appeal e.g. dla and the old I/b most people will win the appeal thus proving the system yet again to come into question?

Providing they "score"the needed 15 points then they should by-pass the medical
