expired M & S credit voucher... what can I do?

Good news everyone!
After sending a second email to head office they still would not help so I wrote directly to the store manager. I did not tell him that I had already contacted head office but just wrote a really nice letter asking if he would let me use the vouchers.
This morning in the post I received £40 gift vouchers.
My only worry now is that so many people are saying that staff are refusing to accept these paper vouchers by saying they aren't being issued anymore which is blantantly not true as Sky also give them to customers as a reward for "recommending a friend"0 -
well done. Let's hope my letter gets a similar response. Am undecided whether to send it to the Head Office in London or my store - what do people think? But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

printed gift vouchers are ok. It is the old printed credit vouchers that have been discontinued. Credit vouchers used to look like the paper gift vouchers but are now printed from the till and look like receipts. Your gift vouchers are fine. (I work for M&S)0 -

whats having a baby got to do with it0 -
Eden - try your store first. If your letter is polite and friendly, and the vouchers are for a relatively small amount (i.e. under £100), you may strike lucky there. Failing that, you can try HO but they have a very no-nonsense line about old CVs.
The signs about credit vouchers have been up at tills since at least April 12th, and I think it was actually earlier (can't recall off the top of my head.) We haven't issued that type of credit vouchers since 2006 at least.0 -
Hello everyone, I just came to this forum since I was looking for some advice in a very similar situation as the one exposed by Shellharry: I agree that these paper vouchers are very easy to loose as you can't really see them among other tickets. I just realised I've lost one £30 credit voucher I got for a refund last June.
Nevertheless, I do have the refunded article's ticket crossed out and signed by an M&S till employee. Do you guys think that they will be able to trace the transaction through that document and re-issue my credit voucher? (it is not expired, just lost). Thank you so much for any help!!
Shellharry, I'm glad you could solve that successfully. It is indeed really irritating when these things arise. Take care!!0 -

Then the management at your store are weak and incompetent and unable to handle the pressure
I'd certainly not advocate this policy to anyone as you'll just make yourself look a fool
On the credit notes, M&S have already gone above and beyond the call by giving you it in the first place, I don't see why they should extend it. I'm delighted to see them tighten up, customers for decades have been frankly taking the !!!! out of M&S0 -

This has more of an influence over my custom than posters of models in lingerie or Myleene Klass everywhere (although I wouldn't like to see either of those go away)
Yes M&S didn't have to do anything, but the reason they did could be one of the contributing factors that they have survived for decades.0 -

Vikki, I'm afraid that that won't be possible. There is no facility on the system to reprint a credit voucher so long after the original transaction i.e. even if I as a manager wanted to do such a thing, it would be impossible.
Credit vouchers are valid for one year from the date of issue. Therefore your credit voucher has already expired.
If you came to the customer services desk, told me that we'd given you a credit voucher a year ago and you had only now discovered you had lost it and wanted it reissued, I would refuse you on the grounds that a) we are unable to reprint credit vouchers b) it's expired c) you had a year to spend it d) I would be unable to tell if it had been spent already as you would not have the unspent CV on you.
However, if you wish to try, you can write to HO or go into your local store.0 -
NotJustAny..., thank you for your answer and the information you provide.
My apologies, I made a mistake when writing my message: the voucher was issued in June 2009 (this year) not June 2008 (sorry for that), so it should be still valid.
Do you still think it will be impossible for them to do something for me?
Regards,
Vikk.0
