It already doesn't recognise the compatibles, that 's the problem! There's no simple way to overide the chipping function.
Sorry, but you have bought cheap junk cartridges and you need to stop throwing good money after bad and buy something that will work properly. You paid £6.28 per set, and a proper compatible set should cost around £15. A genuine Epson set is £27, so it's still half the price. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Well Macman if your THEORY was correct then the ones that I buy for £14 for 12 aka 3 full sets for £14, would be JUNK too, and i can say that they are not, they worked perfectly in my printer and no sign of a not genuine epson cartridge in sight, the prints when compared to the epson genuine look exactly the same.
The problem is that the cartridges she bought probably have the old chip 5 or even 4, depending on how regularly the supplier buys them. Not all compatibles will work with on all compatible models due mainly to the build date of the printer, which is why the makers of the compatibles improve the chip on the cartridges.
The numbers for the chips are not on the chips, it should be on the box if its anywhere, and the supplier should be able to tell you. if they cant then they could be old stock and personally i wouldn't buy them.
heres an example, my printer was low and i needed a black cartridge to print with, at the time i didnt know i had to replace all 4 cartridges to make my printer work, thought the other 3 where low not finished. So i went to my local computer shop and just replaced the black, it cost more than the ones i was going to buy but i needed it urgently so didnt have time to waste on the 3 days it would have taken to deliver, the other carts where epson, and i got the message it wasnt a genuine cartridge, but as it didnt work due to the other 3 it didnt make much difference, that cart cost £1.67, so i ordered 12 from inkpower and they turned up, i installed all 4 cartridges and not one not epson came up. cost of cartridge 97p each it worked out at, guess it was the chip, printer was a DX4800, not the new SX200 i got now.
If you do a lot of printer please be aware that epson have a ink pad, where the wasted ink goes. if this pad fills up it can stop the printer from printing. So I have read on varous websites.0 -
seems like they are off loading the pevious version chips cheaply
epson do a firmware update every few months to make life harder for the ink refilling industry in future before you buy try and read what version of chip they are runningHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. While on printers, I am looking for a cheap laser jet mono printer with duplex unit, and a high volume page print; say at least 20,000 pages. Access to Ethernet connection, wireless and USB. Adaptable to Apple Mac, Linux, and Windows based OS. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks0
