SL, Sorry you didn't get the job you were after, but I'm sure a better one is just around the corner and you have one to keep you going for now - gotta be a silver lining somewhere, it says so in the song.
Love the chicken, Shaz, it HAS to be a she with all those pink flowers but yes, I agree there too, you are still slightly 'waffy' if sewing fabric chickens has got in the way of preparing for your holiday. :rotfl::rotfl:
Out of 10 potato plants producing approximately 1kg potatoes each, I have 2.3kg boiling now. That's all that was salvageable from my slug infested crop. Hens liked the slugs, compost bin got the rest. :rolleyes:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Nyk i guses the hens getting the slugs mean less bought food...............trying to find the silver lining ..........
Which potatoes were they is it the potato well if not how is that going?
My medicated waffy state has left me convinced we CAN manage half an allotment (on top of everything else!!!) i need help:rotfl::rotfl:
My plan is to grow onions and potatoes and some of the less demanding larger plants and maybe soft fruits there and grow the more labour intensive ones at home
There are allotments available in our village(or were a few months ago)
Shaz - who will have a flock of hens shortly but creased clothes to wear on holiday:rotfl:*****

Sl. sorry to hear about the job. Maybe they have the one they deserve;).
My dh has had it happen to him a few times and each time they picked the useless one so he had the last laugh.
Nyk. I was looking at chicken tractors yesterday and found that they can be put over the places where you want all the pests eaten and you just move them around so they clean and fertilize your plot.0 -
SL, sorry to hear about that. (((HUGS))) xxxBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Just been down to concrete corner and the greenhouse.Emptied the 6 potato bags, two had all the greenery eaten away by snails/slugs and very few spuds, the other 4 produced a batch of spuds each.
Found these critters lurking in my spud foliage grrrrr:mad:
Greenhouse doing well, lots of lovely toms on every plant just need some more sunshine to get them red,
and I finally have a decent sized cucumber on my sole surviving cuke plant, and lots more just starting.
Apples doing well on my baby apple tree, first blackberries now black on my rogue bush, lots of rose hips almost ready for picking(rose hip syrup) and my strawberries which weren't doing anything earlier have now gone into giant strawberry mode
Come on sunshine where are you????0 -

Hi everyone
Sorry to hear about the job SL
I have been SO rubbish at catching up with this thread and keeping track of what I'm spending. I'm trying to reduce my spends further and not use the car so much. Got to keep reminding myself that maternity pay stops beginning of Nov. Mine and DH's priorities have changed now since having Daisy, we've just got to keep on top of the money, save on anything that we can and try to get things for free! He hasnt got alot of work again, has work next week then nothing the week after, he's also spend hundreds on tools for work, which he does need. I know we can do it, we've got to, I'm not prepared to lose the house which we worked so hard for.
Sorry if I sound negative everyone, it just gets you down sometimes.
Gonna have a nice cheap tea of sausage, mash & beans!

Well I have been sewing this afternoon. Using things that I have had for years in the boxes at the back of the cupboards!.
I certainly have enjoyed sewing, which is something that I had lost when I used to do it for a living all those years ago.
Finished the cushion cover I started yesterday, and made a little dress for my grand-daughter.
The washing dryed on the line this afternoon, so I am pleased about that becuase I nearly didnt hang it out as we had rain this morning.
Eaten the remains of yesterdays dinner tonight as DS didnt come back last night, infact he hasnt come back tonight either. Looks like now he has the moped he is off out of my life? (That will keep thefood bill down for a bit anyway!!).When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Stay focused Loupylou, and try not to get too down, puts things into perspective when you have a child as suddenly you are responsible for providing for them too. Hope your OH manages to get some more work lined up, you seem to have done all the right things re advertising etc when he set up his business so I hope it pays off for you.
Have you checked out tax credits etc to make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to, it all helps.xxx0
