:T 2p desserts and 4p curry sauce - anyone got any idea of cost for basic rice and flour? I'm going to be rich beyond my wildest dreams IF they have the same offers in all their stores. :rotfl: What's the betting that we'll have to pay a premium for stuff because we're a small area? Still, even at twice the price, I could manage with a grocery bill of £2.90 per week, it could save me over £1000 a year! :j I'd best call it £5, as I don't have an allotment, then best make it £10, as I'll need a fresh chicken or some mince now and again. Then there's fruit & veg (Ald! super 6?) so call it £15  I'm turning into a shopaholic! :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.

Flour is approx 45p (give or take a few pennies, prices do vary from week to week but not as much as Mr T !) Just checked the rice prices and it's 73p for a kg, not sure how that compares with what you pay now?:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0

Afternoon All,
Have given up trying to catch up on the thread so far!! I'm climbing back on the wagon again, and starting from August. Have had a difficult couple of months and trying to manage my money had gone out the window, but i have a goal now which I am determined to meet. I need to get £2k together as soon as possible, I won't go into details why, but it involves keeping my sanity(!) so being as frugal as possible starting tomorrow. Am going to have a look at the grocery challenge as well to try and help even more. My allotment is still producing lots so that will reduce bills. I've made huge batches of greengage and plum jam, which is being sold to friends so that will help a little. Going to write my meal plan for next week tonite, as well pull my finger out with my 'stay at home evening job', I really need to be pulling in at least £100 a week with it. I know I should be saving to clear my debts, but something more important has come up and I really need to focus again. I had started smoking again, but have stopped today as my goal is more important. Will be following you all closely again.
Looking forward to continued inspiration!!

Nyk - Have a look on mysupermarket for a rough guide to prices and which special offers they may have on. It doesn't list everything though...
I'm lucky that I have all of the biggies + L!dl and Ald! easily accessable. (well the MrA is ~40 mins walk each way so I only go there if there is something that I need especially reduced and I can easily carry it home. I managed to accidentally discover they had bread flour at 20p a bag while checking the mysupermarket prices were correct in January (it said 45p at the time) so took my suitcase and stocked up! :rotfl:I'm only just running out now...)Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Hi SiannieLaz, great to see you back and good luck with the stopping smoking again. Be honest, though, it isn't down to addiction, luck or free will, it's down to wanting something else more than you want the cigs.
I've stayed off them since 1st January 2008, but I'll be treating myself to a pack in September to celebrate having saved enough from not smoking to cover my share of the cost of DD's wedding.
Hope the 2k is for something that will bring you long term benefits. (I can just hear the gasps of horror by many at my confessing to a £5 spend on a pack of cigs, but I need to air the Gucci leather ciggie box now and again, otherwise it's a waste! :rotfl:)
Thanks for suggestion, Taka, I've also signed up to the store's website for news and details of any stores opening near me, Weird that their site doesn't appear to be aware of a store opening here within the next week but it'll be brilliant being able to browse online before deciding if it's worthwhile nipping into town for bargains.I reserve the right not to spend.
