Oh no, hope I haven't missed you completely SFT, have an amazing time in Central America you lucky thing! Look forward to hearing all about it and seeing your photos sometime x

Well, I just took OH to the cottage...and he loved it almost as much as me (and that's in the dark!). His first question was 'So how are we going to find the money?' :T:j:T:j OMG, if it wasn't for MSE and you guys especially, I would've written this off as a silly idea immediately, but now I know how frugal I can be with our finances, a project like this MAY just be possible. :j
I'll accept an invite for fresh pasta any time SM ;)
Lovely to see you Ilovetea, have a nice time with your family. I wish I'd only spent £60.40 this month! :D

sft - have a fabulous time: ooh, it feels like releasing caged birds on here:D.

BB, 'persistent' and 'incurable', is that like 'determined', 'stubborn', 'idealistic', 'head in the clouds', 'delusional'...:rotfl:You know I'm only pursuing it so you have somewhere lovely to come and stay

yup bails - . But I think you'll find those are the descriptions applied to those who keep going and keep going til they've achieved the 'impossible' and everyone wonders how they did it.

Next line down in the dictionary is: irrepressable...:D.
Of course I totally appreciate your selflessness in ensuring I have a holiday home in the uk:rotfl:. (Am investigating skype)

SM - ah, a lakeland spluge. I understand.

I've been looking at a very interesting blog from a USA frugler - she makes cardboard furniture - got great instructions for cardboard drawers and a can dispenser for food stockpilers. She's also got me thinking about working towards 'once a month cooking'. I'm working on a 10 day menu at the mo which means eating the same meal 3 times in a month which seems ok.

Nyk -I'm really impressed wth how committed you've been to giving your daughter the wedding she wants on a budget. LOL at the underskirt - my memory from bridesmaid days (5 times for goodness sake!) is that it is a twisting action that makes it small, but it takes confidence to be sure you aren't damaging it!

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

SF how are you feeling today after your 'down day'?
SF-How are you today? You sounded a bit down.

Thanks guys. I've been at work 8am til 5pm, and then went to another friend's house for dinner, so I've not had much time to be by myself which is good at the moment :) I hate that some days I can feel so rubbish, and others I can be perfectly fine? oh well.
Finally got another NSD today, but don't think I'm gonna make my target for July!
sft, think I may have missed you, but have a good trip!

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick check in before bed as I haven't posted in the last couple of days. I haven't spent that much, just been working. I was in Newcastle yesterday and I'm in Preston tomorrow, so well travelled again this week.

DH is home again tomorrow, so I prepped the dinner in case I was tempted to opt for a takeaway. I've peeled loads of potatoes, some for mash, some for potato scones (for DH), and some for fishcakes. I don't know whether to use tinned salmon or fresh? Any ideas or recipies would be good!

I'm off to bed now as I'll need to be away early.

    Nite everyone. xx

this company do a good range of jars and there is no postage on orders over £60. Once you are bitten with the canning bug you can not get enough jars.
I am waiting for my pressure canner to arrive. I got an email to say it was being shipped airmail last Friday so should be here soon.
I can't wait to start doing soups and stews. Heat and serve sounds very appealing aspecially knowing what has gone into them.

Oh grandma. Now I want to visit you as well to learn all this canning stuff.

Hmm. Ultimate destination is sm and nyk, of course. Perhaps bails could lead (like the pied piper) and more and more of us join in as we go further north!

Shipping from USA? I really , really [STRIKE]want[/STRIKE] need a pressure canner, what is the shipping cost like on one from US? I tried e mailing lakeland to start stocking them but no luck and just can't get one anywhere uk.A pressure canner would remove the need for a freezer for me, I could just jar my soups, casseroles, etc. I am so jealous!!

Good price on the ball jars on that site :)

well you could pop in on the way past ;)
I will be asking the lovely people for help on the canning2 group when the time comes to actually start canning. They are good at hand holding. I have used a pressure cooker so I can't see this being any more difficult than that.

    Grandma,

Do you have a blog? I like to read about what you have been up to. I follow a few blogs and especially like the ones which give cooking tips. You seem to be very experienced in this area, so if you don't have one, I think that you should take the plunge! (if you have the time, that is). xx

SFT, I hope that you have a wonderful trip.

Everyone else, I hope that poorly relatives (especially Cheryl's) and the other boy that has the flu, get well soon.

I'm going to bed this time, nite nite. xx
