The alternative is to think what else could you buy with that amount of money (Presuming you have it?)
I buy my purses from the local charity shop. Usually less then £4. But the last one was a Mr Primark special at £2!
That would leave you enough money for a complete new wardrobe!

Went out for the family meal for DS's 18th earlier - and was still pondering on arrival whether to kill my grocery budget by taking it from that (it is food!) or whether to charge it to my 'anything else' category (don't have an entertainment budget)

Bill for 5 adults and 2 children (2 kiddie meals including drinks and ice-cream, 5 main course, 1 side dish, 4 desserts and 10 drinks - 8 of which were soft drinks) came to £72.11 which didn't seem bad....... but I didn't see the total until my Dad presented me with the receipt and asked me to check it as I'd done the ordering :rolleyes2

As I was paying on a card (no idea how much cash to take with me, and didn't want to pull too much or too little) they'd opened a 'tab' for me - and my Dad had picked up on that. So he sloped off and settled the bill when I was otherwise distracted with GDs.......

Whilst I appreciate the thought behind his action, I'm still a little annoyed with him  I invited my parents, which - in my eyes - means the bill was mine to pay !!!!

No, then :) Be good. Wrap up warmly and you'll feel more cheerful. Got any ovaltine? I haven't bought any for ages but had a sample in my baby stuff (it has folic acid, apparently) and it was lovely.

No money, cant spend it then. You will have to just have a picture of it, and put it on a wish list when the lottery is won!.

CW my parents are always doing things like that. But they like to help. I have taken it with good grace lately. !
Although they are away for another month yet. Been away since May!.
So I think they like to make it up when they get back.

Havent got any Oveltine, but just remembered that there is some Mr T cheapy hot chocolate in the cupboard, so the kettle is on, and I will try that.
I dont normally drink or eat the stuff I have in for DS, but perhaps today is just an exception. I will think about my weight etc later!.

I am being good :) I know realistically that I won't buy it - I am far too sensible really! Had a highlights hot choc with some mini marshmallows on top - was lovely :) am now sat in a snuggly jumper watching casualty and feeling loads better. thanks for listening to me this evening :o

Our holiday was great - we had so much fun! Our hotel was really nice - room was pretty basic, but we had a balcony on the ground floor, so we were two steps away from the hotel pool, which we had to ourselves most of the time :) we went on two day cruises out - one to a local marine area in the sea where we saw dolphins from far away, and the second being a mamma mia cruise :D we went to the chapel where the wedding was, and we walked up the 204 steps to get there  worth it though, the views were amazing. had a lot of swimming in the sea off the side of the boat, which was great. we also went to the beach where the taverna bits were filmed, and the three trees where they have the picnic in the film! was really good :o We just relaxed the rest of the time, either at a beach or just around the pool. I read 6 books whilst we were there (for 7 days!) and I felt really relaxed, and happier than I had done for a long time. The bf was amazing as always, and we got on most of the time ;) sometimes got a bit irritable in the heat, but when its late 30s I guess that was bound to happen!

Hope everyone has had a good evening xx

  • Just spent a lovely evening with my sister and her partner. Enjoyed veggie curry, followed by profiteroles. Delicious wine too. Great frugal evening. :T
By contrast we take my parents out for a posh lunch tomorrow-to say thank you for putting us before we moved into the cottage. Will try and give them some money for our keep too.
Should know about the roof quote tomorrow morning too. I agree Kittikins that we will go for long term..but (as you said Nyk) we onlly have so much money.

    Have a great evening.
