Beginning to wish there was someone living near me to share such trips, ideas etc. I am feeling very isolated not knowing anybody at all in the village. (Well I have spoken to next door, as I share a drive with them, but they are a retired farming couple).
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Wow, SFT - I'm loving the sound of the New Zealand trip. My next excuse apart from money holding me back will be school holidays, but if, as you say, I plan things in advance, I can keep my beady eyes open for bargains :)

I did once plan a round the world trip for me and ex, with loads of great things to do, I had a whole 100+ folder of things to do (canooeing down the Mississippi anyone?) and he looked at it and came up with a gazillion reasons why I wouldn't be able to do it.....

I really want to crack into my sealed pot now (well, hard to as I'm 2 hours drive away) and start 'real' saving! Just need to get the double glazing done so the house doesn't leak this winter, but am going to get back into meal planning, using stuff up, foraging and stuff to help save for that :)

Evening everyone, I've had a good day at work after being off for 2days because I was sooo ill with flu I just couldn't do anything. My boss asked me to help with training of new staff and has given me a fab new project:D. The long term plan is to become a supervisor of my department - which I can manage without the major stress that was getting to me in my last job.

I've made a frugal meal plan for the next fortnight working with all the leftover stuff I have - tons of tinned tomatoes, passata, bulgar wheat and lentils. So lots of sauces and stews for lunches and some chili are planned for batch cooking tomorrow:D

    I bought a new necklace today - wooden beads that will go with everything - and they were £1.96 - Primark's finest:rotfl:. Tomorrow's frugal plans include;

    -groceries £20 spend planned
    -gym visit with a swim
-cleaning kitchen worktop with cleaner that came with it
-walk around the park with hubby
    -update 101 in 1001 blog
    -laundry with soap nuts

Mooloo - The Big Lunch is on Sunday, see if there is one near you which you could go to :)

Good morning people with Frugalitis (and lurkers :))

Sun is shining, hoping it will stay around for the weekend.

Mooloo, I don't have anyone near by to accompany me on trips either, but I'm hoping that it won't stop me from going places as soon as the finances permit. Hopefully, I can drag a friend along IF I ever manage to get anywhere. First trip would be to visit a friend in France. She, hubby & family went frugal euro camping and ended up buying a fixy up. :rotfl:

Bails, I have so many frugal pots that I've given up trying to juggle them. Most will emptied for DD's wedding then one more for DS's 21st and then it'll be my turn, I HOPE! There's always something, though. As soon as I've made it to France, I'll start thinking about other things, but time is marching on and I'm not up to doing some of the things on my previous lengthy list, like western trail riding/cattle drive type things. (Makes mental note, must stop thinking about horsey things, they always end up costing me a fortune. :o) Hmm... wonder if DGD would like a pony for her birthday? :rotfl: I still want to buy some land, too.

Skint_chick, glad you've recovered from flu.

Popping round for a cuppa with SM later this morning, just hope Captain Beaky didn't wake her as I ended up getting up at 6 to let him out in an effort to shut him up. MUST rehome him asap. Must also get a decent photo and then you'll all see how unfrugal this white monster really is. He's about the size of a turkey now! :rotfl:

Taka, I know so many people wanting to do this that we could probably organise a frugathering in Peru. :j Previously, I'd just thought it would be quite good and then, after reading Celestine Prophesy and similar books a few years back, I was convinced that it would be a great thing to do, even if the additional reasons came from a novel. :rotfl: I still think it would be a great achievement but doubt very much if I'd ever be fit enough to make the trek, especially with my now dodgier than every knees and creaky hip joint. :o Apart from that, I'm a coward and won't travel anywhere on my own. :o

:j :T I'm currently rediculously unfit (though improving ) and am clinically/morbidly obese :o with foot problems so I'm not fit enough to do it now either! The dream of going there, however, is a big motivation to do something about my weight and fitness levels. 11lb lost since the start of June... about a million to go! I WILL DO IT!

Don't go on your own then Nyk, there are plenty of ways to travel with like minded people. (I'm always up for a Frugal team expedition...;))As for your dodgy bits :p my dad is about to come out and trek the Himalayas with us - his lifetime's ambition - and he had a hip replacement last year! It hurts like hell some days and his knees are battered but dreams are dreams aren't they? It will be one of my proudest moments to accompany him on that trip.

Anyone ever see Beyond Boundaries? Run by a friend of mine, awesome series.

Yay... :T How cool is your dad? My mum would love to go to Machu Picchu too but I'm not sure I've convinced her about the trek bit (my Dad just looked a bit scared!)! :rotfl:

I loved that series! :T Very inspirational!

Bails, I just recently learned from SM that she'd also like to go to Machu Piccu but her OH isn't really into that sort of holiday, so who knows where the tenants of Frugaldom may end up one day?

:j So when shall we all go then? 2010, 2011? :rotfl:

If we make it 2011, we may have to join the frugathering in Peru. DH would love to visit Peru.

Swine flu has come to our area, so am trying to keep hydrated and well-rested. I am quite worried about my little (to me) brother. He has a number of serious issues on at the moment and is not getting much support from my parents (who work with him). My dad, particularly is not pulling his weight. I sort of understand why, but it's no excuse. If my bro gets ill, they will be completely unable to cope with the present situation. I have had a few heated discussions lately so am hoping they will get their act together.

I picked up my 'pack' from the midwife, and feel overwhelmed with all the leaflets, free samples, coupons etc. Too much even for a frugalite in one go!
