:hello: Welcome bunny too and anyone else I haven't welcomed! Just jump right in and start posting and practicing for the 2010 () challenge. Just to warn you we'll be changing threads soon - end of Sept/start of Oct as otherwise the thread gets too big... We do it every quarter!

SFT - you still have loads to be proud of - you have your lovely family, a beautiful cottage... and you had a financial cushion to fall back on. Its what it is there for (although it hurts to actually use it ). Imagine if you hadn't had it...

You can't possibly be more unfit than me... :o I need to do more exercise urgently... I'm VERY overweight (though I have lost a bit). :o

lingojingo - Hope you feel better soon...

As Nyk says some of us are lapsed.
I did really well kept up my spending diary every day until May when I went on holiday. Never seemed to get back to it after. Having said that I think about it most days and read her too I love reading this board its so friendly.

I am still saving more each month than I ever have and my credit card purcheses are well down OH thought it was a misprint when he saw the first time
I am also still saving in my sealed pot well it sort of sealed and counts the total. It currently stands at £387 but alot has been banked. I am thrilled with that and it is alll down to you people on here.

UPDATES - Haven't made it back outside to the garden yet, had a trip into town to make so I could pay some wedding associated bills, deliver some home produce to fellow LETS folks and pick up a few groceries. On the minus side, I managed to spend almost £30 by the time I stocked up on candles, invested in some stronger 'storm force' clothes pegs (take note, SM, you'll need these for the coming months), new garden gloves and the grocery shopping. On the plus side, I got a lowly piece of silverside reduced from £5 to £1.29 and some fresh, marinaded chicken fillets with sun dried tomatoes and olives for less than £1 per pack, so that should help take care of next week's extra dinners when DS has his pal staying. I suspect it's some sort of lads' weekend as the pal is getting married soon but the less I know the better. A couple of weeks ago they all landed in Newcastle for a long weekend for son-in-law's stag do!

My breadmaker has been on every day for the past week but is getting a rest for a couple of days as I picked up a couple of 27p reduced loaves. I think my 'not buying' list for 2010 will need to make allowances for the fact that I will buy if it's cheaper than making my own. 27p per loaf is definitely cheaper when flour is almost £1 per bag. I did notice that our Mr S is now selling own brand dried yeats, though, so that should help a little. No bakery department wothin easy travel distance of here, so no free yeast.

LETS has done me proud recently. Over the weekend of DD's wedding, I had booked a family of 4 in for B&B and paid in LETS currency and I have now just delivered the next batch of lemon curd and soup, so that has traded off the cost of the paving slabs we got for slabbing the hen runs. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can now carry out future trades for some Christmas gifts. (Also hoping to get some venison, if I can but don't tell HS.)

Thanks for popping in, Glenda, I'm glad you are still with us and still enjoying being part of our frugal little community. Well done with the sealed pot and CC bills. :T

This year, I have tried to pay as much as I can via plastic with 1% cashback (then paying in full each month) in the hope of getting a decent lump sum next March. I'll be happy if I make it to the £50 mark by then. :)

Just a quickie as only back from Everest today... CONGRATULATIONS to aeb on the birth of THREE healthy babies, amazing! Hope you're all doing really well.

Hugs to Lingo for the swine flu, hope you get better soon. We've pretty much forgotten all about it here but no doubt it's coming our way and will affect people quite badly.

SFT, I echo what everyone has said, you've done a fantastic job and those reserves will build up again. As for the weight thing, surely that can't be true? If it is I'm in real trouble!

Shaz, I would kill for bangers and mash right now, my favourite!

Will catch up more with peeps tomorrow xx
