I tried that the first time- neither accepted
as I have uploaded rather than using my own url thought better use the smaller non-moving versionAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

sra555 wrote:The vbulletin software can't resize pictures for you - you have to do it yourself.
they have to be less than 80 x 80 px and under 19.5 KB
There are some websites you can do it online
for gifs try here (animated pics are gifs)
for jpg click here
Both work similar. you choose Edit / resize.
You should only have to enter one number. If your picture is wide, enter 80 in the width box.
If your pic is thin, enter 80 in the height area.
The other box should automatically find the right size (assuming you've left maintain ratio / Constrain Proportions ticked)
If it's a gif you're editing, you might also want to try Optimize / Reduce Colours. which will make the filesize smaller. (you'll have to do this if the file is bigger than 19.5KB - but even if it isn't you can still give it a go and see if you can tell the difference. The smaller the file, the happier webby will be:D)
THANKS sra555! Do you like mine?0 -
The Edit Avatar page has now changed for some users:
"The maximum size of your custom image is 50 by 50 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)"
which would make my avatar:
Existing avatars seem to be okay at 80 x 80 but if you decide to change you may have to have a pic under 50 x 500 -

After my avatar vanished this evening
I tried the gif site for re-sizing, and it let me mess around with the colours but wouldn't resize (nothing happened). Tried zooming out and it said it was 39 x 38 (or similar), but when it reached my computer it was too big again. Tried all I could see on the site but it won't do it for me.... any suggestions?

sorry Fran accidentally edited you're message rather than reply
If you post link to you're avatar I'll see if I can do anything. But at 50 x 50 you can never tell how a resized image will turn out0 -
It's saved on my computer....Torgwen..........
