  • Hi Guy's,

I made an application on Thursday last week on the internet, called up Today and got the decision over the phone, not sure what the delay is with other applications??

I applied online a few weeks ago, and got my card last week.

Now I need to find out how to make payments to the card. Their website doesn't allow you to do so, except for the usual monthly DD. I want to arrange to pay off the cash advance, so I'm not paying too much interest, but it might not be possible. Anyone know if you can or not?

Another firm really need to match Abbey Santander with this credit card. They are incapable of dealing with the number of applications. Having spent 6 weeks waiting, being sent welcome letters, chasing letters, more welcome letters, being told I had 14 days to send the documentation again, speaking to numerous people on the phone, who put notes on the yet to be opened account, I finally, on the same day, got another welcome letter and a letter telling me my application had been abandoned. Having again spoken to a very jaded person on the phone, I was advised to apply again in person at a bank. That is not going to happen.

What is most annoying is that I will now be forced to pay more money when abroad this summer, and probably won't have time to get a Post Office card now. My Nationwide one no longer covers my holiday destination.

I need a holiday after all that!

It's not the getting accepted that is the problem, it's the documentation that they need to have. They never seem to get it, and eventually just abandon your application, even though you have already been accepted.

You can do an online transfer to :

    09-00-99
    01000007

Add your credit card number as the reference

    OR

Pay in at the Abbey counter using the same details.

I also believe you can do this over the 'phone too.

What a lot of people don't realise is that the credit card underwriting team is a VERY small group of people who are - really - over worked. It's a shame as they're all a decent bunch (certainly when I speak to them over the phone). But they've got a severe amount of pressure on them right now due to the popularity of the Zero card.

All of those online applications are just making it even harder for them to process the backlog that they always seem to have creep up on them. :(

I can't stress enough how much quicker it is to apply in branch, at least then we (PBA's) can get you an answer and if you have your BT details to hand we can even get the ball rolling on that if the card is accepted! ;)

Well it's not very hard to sort this under resource is it?
    1. Employ more underwriters (Oh-that costs money )
    2. Put a hold on Zero application on-line (Oh that costs money as Shabby can't sucker in more people...)

Moral of the story: No business should offer what it can't (won't) deliver.

I'm having real trouble with Abbey CC at the moment. I got offered a guaranteed cc with them without a credit check for the 0% for 15 months BT.

It took 2 months from application to getting the actual card.

As soon as I received the card I applied for online access to it which I did via the phone as the website wouldn't accept my cc number. After not receiving anything through the post from them after 3 weeks, I phoned the online department they said that I should wait 10-14 working days and I hadn't reached that yet. I phoned them up yesterday and now they are saying that there has been a glitch and they will have to start the process over again!

I was due to have a statement through from them a couple weeks ago and still haven't received anything from them.

I'm probably being a bit unfair not giving them enough time re the statement but they just seem to have a problem sending anything through the post!

So at the moment I'm relying on the telephone banking service which is useless as I'm about to leave the country for 3 months and need online access.

At this point I just want to move my debt away from them but that means I've paid the 3% BT fee of my £1700 for nothing!

sounds like i have been luckier than others on here, applied 3 weeks ago today on the internet and have received the card intodays post, cant activate it though as only just gone through my post and to activate a card you have to do it mon-thurs 9am to 8pm, friday 9am to 7 and saturday 9am to 5pm, so no 24 hour activation like many other card companies.

i am out all day tomorrow, so lucks like i will ahve to wait till monday night after work to activate

I've got the Santander/Abbey Zero credit card. Twice they have not taken the direct debit payment. Last month they were supposed to take the full £800 balance, but nothing was taken. I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone to get the £12 fee and £18 interest refunded and they couldn't explain why it happened. I am paying it manually from next month on, and switching to the Post Office credit card soon!
